Oh my goodness Lisa. That Polish is just darling! I love her..and I'm glad she turned out a she. And she is sweet too. That's what we want. Now she is going to lay for you. A keeper for a while for sure. :)

Ry, that is a boy. I can cry with you..I've had a few of mine turn out to be boys lately. I just placed three cockerels yesterday. One being my blue OE that I was soo hoping would be a girl.

Lisa, I have a blue out there that could possibly be an OE. She is the 5th generation girl I was talking about, but I guess the blue Ameraucana mom was bred to a marans or OE. Soo, we shall see. She is getting close. And, I kept that black one, and cyndi got a few out of that hatch, and she thinks a couple are girls.. and I have one from this hatch that I am keeping..maybe two.

Thanks Cynthia, that makes tow males of five, My welsummer and my (blue splash?) Dutch

Glad you like her, she is very unique, I like that! Glad you have the blue girl getting close, that will be exciting! Glad you are finding homes for your boys, I just sent 5 boys packing too, I am only down to a couple now. I had a guy over here a few months ago said he would take all the roosters I could come up with, lol he had no idea. I just unloaded two batches on him and he was like "wow, I am good!" haha. I sent him 3 more 10 week olds yesterday  I think he has over a dozen from me, 16 maybe? A lot. It is nice to have someone who will take them like that! Phoenix took a bunch earlier last month too, so I am doing good so far keeping up. (So far = code word for "not much longer" lol!)

I have a chick, that is not growing at all...she eats and drinks and runs all over but the bantam chicks I bought at the same time as her are double her size and she is a standard! (Golden Laced Wyandotte)...so now what? You pick her up and she weighs next to nothing. Have any of you had chicks like this survive? She is three weeks old tomorrow and doesn't act like anything is wrong at all? Any suggestions or thoughts? Plz help :(

I also lost my silver laced Wyandotte today....looks like she got smooshed...she was so friendly too-it makes me so sad. She flew up on the edge of the brooder this morning when I was changing out water and filling their feeder-keep thinking if I would have been home or something-ugh. Now I have this last little (very little) Golden Laced left...(this winter wild dogs came and killed 13 of my chickens including all three of my Wyandotte hens) Sometimes I really hate having a job, it is no fun to be gone all day with little chicks at home!

lluvia, my slw is easily half the size of the other girls her age, always has been, i heard that they mature slowly, but i got her when she was about six weeks old so i don't know if this is helpful

Well, I figured out the problem with my silky hen....She wasn't eating the pellets, she has never eaten anything but cracked corn and free ranged. She is getting better and is doing really well now.
I have been letting them out to free range and the rooster is really protective of her. The little bugger has an attitude though and just chased Jessi into the house. So I ran out and chased him back to his coop. He knows not to mess with me.

A couple of pics of the chicks.

First is the easter egger

The Blue Wheaten Ameraucanas

All the FBCM

And the Olive Egger.

These look just like mine! Imagine that!!!! When did these hatch?
Acemario, I will pm you after they hatch. There should be plenty of wheatens, but won't know gender, takes a bout 6 weeks on those. Sex links for sure we will know who the girls are.

Cynthia, have you got a girlie looking olive egger yet for yourself? Can't wait for you to get that olive egg!

Went out to the coop, everybody seems to know it is spring and wanting to be broody. I gave them all a little squirt from the water bottle and that scared a few off, will see how long that lasts

Sweet. I'll send you a PM :)
I do! Come get em!

Oh, I see Lisa already offered..if you want more, I have a Welsummer that is looking girly, a LF cochin, not sure of the coloring..partrige? I have a black with a white dot on it's head..so thinking it will be a barred, looks girly, also a real pretty OE, that's grey/blue, with browns in it...can't tell for sure on the sex, but it's a pretty little chick. Just a thought.
Awesome. I'll talk to my buddy and see what he says. How old are your chicks?

Oh yeah, one more thing. Our struggling little chick finally died sometime early this morning. I was relieved. He had labored respiration, couldn't walk or open his eyes, and when I fed him with a syringe, about 20 minutes later it was gargling back up. Now he's in the big dust bath in the sky!

Some times you get a chick that has failure to thrive. As long as she is eating and drinking I wouldn't worry about her. She could be some kind or natural mutation that would make her a bantam
