Utah!

Nice meeting you brian..putting up our photos today sometime.  And, I think I'll post that funny one, with my hair addition, and your great silly smile.  :)    Those are red sex links.  The RIR's are the two that I have that are point of lay.  The ones you got, do have RIR in them, but they are not pure RIR.  They are considered one of the best layers out there.  Ask birdman, he will tell you that the black sex link are also one of the best egg layers out there.
Now, I'm waiting to hear when they lay for you.  Will be interesting. And, to see your nice setup.   Since they have each other, they should get comfortable with their surrounding pretty quick.  They aren't used to straw in the nest boxes.  I thought about telling you that after you let..they are used to the shavings, like I put in your box.  We'll see if they will go to the next boxes to lay.  Thinking they will.  :)
I have the shavings like you have so they felt right at home when I put them in the coop. They are very sweet and very talkative. No eggs this morning but they just got here so I assumed it could take a day or 2 to start seeing any. Haha that picture was so funny you definitely should put that on here haha. I'm going to put some pictures on here later with my chicken set up.

If need be and the time doesn't work you can use my house as a drop off pick up point.

Hi Sundance,

Thanks!!

Hello everybody

Looking for a chicken train from Pawtraitart in Paul, Idaho to as close to Duchesne, Utah as possible. (SLC or Provo/Orem, etc works too!!)

I am totally exhausted

with all the driving and building I've been doing, and appreciate

so much the chicken train from Casa to Sphinx on those two cockerels.

Pawtraitart is holding 2 Black Orps for me and although I planned on driving there myself, I seriously need some downtime

Please let me know.... thanks!!

Here is brian and myself.
A more serious picture..cute kid right?

I think it's funny he decided to raise that eye brow, when I was placed just right to have
a nice little hair addition here. My vase assortment behind me gave me quite the do.
Can't wait to see pictures of your set up brian. And to hear that you actually got an egg
or two today. Young birds! I didn't realize how young until you asked, and I looked up
when I hatched Daisy. Wow. She lays a nice sized egg, they will get even bigger.

My marans and bresse arrived today! Four bresse chicks and seven marans. So excited!!

In less exciting news, I found out today, via text, that my grandmother is in the terminal stage of pancreatic cancer. They say she has a week left. I feel all the worse because I haven't seen her in four years and can't say goodbye. I took the day off work to process a bit. Not sure if anyone is in SLC that wants any of the birds I have, but today looks to be a good day to pick them up. Many boys here, and two houdan pullets left. I have a meeting tonight, but before five thirty I am here.

So with all this rain we have gotten the run is really muddy and it does have a tad bit of a smell to it. What is the best stuff to put down in the run that will help with odor control and easy to clean. I tried raking it up so I could scope up the poops, but it made a bigger mess. The coop is dry and clean inside, its the run that has the odor. Positive note, the girls out are free ranging. I didn't give them the whole yard yet, just under the smaller side with the chain link closed, I wanted to be able to watch them since I'm worried about the magpies. I will have to take some photos, now it just needs to warm up so I can through the 4 1/2 week olds outside during the day too.

I have been using straw. The girls LOVE it when I put down fresh straw.

So put straw down in just the run area? Its 8 feet by almost 10 feet with the coop inside, and they can go under the coop too. I just didn't know what I could put in there to help with the smell, not sure if its because its wet. Because I cleaned out the coop on Sunday, and it didn't smell at all. I did buy Oxine, but I haven't used it yet, will that help with the smell if I spray it on the ground. I got busy, so I need to go read through to see how to mix it up.
