Ha! I am officially off work for the net 3 weeks! AND, today is my youngest son's birthday! I have a surgery tomorrow (minor thing, no big deal) but I couldn't care less since I get to be home and NOT AT WORK for a while! Don't get me wrong--I love my job and love taking care of people, but these last few months have just about done me in. My mother is not in the hospital for a change and no one I know of is dying, so life is good.
Now down to business.
I am overrun with chickens and after the surgery I won't be able to do anything about it for a while (no driving for a couple of weeks, I'm told). I really just want to give some of the little darlings away so the boys can focus on the ones we want to keep. There are still the 3 Cream Legbar girls, all of which are laying up for grabs. There's also a trio of BLRW--one black and 2 very dark dark blues (I think, kind of hard to tell, they are so dark. Those BLRWs are actually showing a lot of promise--their blueing would be a nice add in to a bedding group to intensify things.
Joel also has a bunch of Welsummers from Whitmore farms--I know Desert wants some of them, so if anyone is going up her way in the next few weeks, can anyone chicken train them? My roommates went up there today, but didn't tell me beforehand.
There are also a few very young cream Legbar boys and some equally young BLRW up for grabs--about a month old?
All of these are free for the taking if anyone wants to come pick them up. The Cream Legbar girls and Bokbok are, for some reason, the only chickens down here that are laying, despite my chicken salad threats. Don't know what's up with the others, but I'm guessing it's something about the heat.
I'll try to check in here whenever I can, but I'll likely be kind of out of commission for a bit. Lisa has my phone number if anyone needs it (or do you still have it, Lisa?) and knows where I live. The boys are okay to show anyone the chickens that wants to see them if you drop by. Come one, come all, and save me from being buried in chickens!
