LOL...you should hear her when she is broody!Oh, Doughie, you need to take video of her honking! I'd love to see that.
Sphinx, I'm glad yours came out. The one I had just laid there for over two hours, on her/his back and seemed to be fading away. The baby had been really pasty and gooey and had actually dried to her remaining shell. I just couldn't take it any longer. I went in and turned her/him on her/his stomach and removed most of the shell which wasn't touching her/him. I allowed the membranes to finish breaking away by themselves. It was weaker than the others right from the start but seemed to snap out of it after about 4 days.Oh, Doughie, you need to take video of her honking! I'd love to see that.
Lisa, Howie is so adorable! I hope he is house trained soon.
Desert, interesting how you describe the yellow Icelandic chick hatching. I swear that's what the blonde one did that I hatched for Red. She was the first to hatch, and was most of the way out and just laid there. I've never seen one relax that close to being out. I hope it was a fluke and not an omen. I didn't help her out at all, and she was out in less than an hour.
Okay, while we talk about brrody hens and bators...how many Cemani eggs should I get if the viability rate is so low.....they are expensive.
If I were you I'd make sure my hatching skills were tuned up before trying to hatch such expensive eggs. My neighbor paid a fortune on her first hatching try and then was devastated when her skills and knowledge of the inc she was using failed to hatch no more than one, which was malformed. Just sayin'Okay, while we talk about brrody hens and bators...how many Cemani eggs should I get if the viability rate is so low.....they are expensive.
