Utah!

I don't think it works that way? Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought that fairs use the standards too. I know my Sebright I showed a few years back was disqualified because she was too big.

My Sizzle rooster is excellent, but they aren't recognized.
My Silkies are missing feathers and their wings and tails have normal feathering.
None of my Brahmas are good enough for show. My Buffs all decend from Ideal Poultry lines... And they're a third the size they're supposed to be! My Light is better, but I still think she falls short... She's huge but I don't think she's more than 5 pounds. And her feathers are still growing back. She's missing a toe.
I'm familiar with the standard or perfection for Buff Brahmas. My hen would fit well, if she were bigger, wasn't missing a toe, and if she had yellow feet. But she's nice and wide and has good feathering. Her Columbian pattern isn't perfect but not too bad either.

Sorry if I'm wrong, but that about round up my current flock!

And oh my goodness, she is so cute. <3
I am looking into it. I hope some people at the association may know some OEGB breeders, but I still feel so nervous asking!

The Salt Lake County fair show is put on by the Utah Poultry assn. They folow the rules.

I'm beating Sphinx to this - The total number of eggs that hatched for her was three. Fourth pipped internally and died, but had a really high, weird vault. I checked the eggs under my broody, and it looks like I still have two that are going strong.

I also love the feathered incubators.

Incubators: My favorite is my brinsea mini advance. It only holds 7 eggs. I have toyed with the idea of buying the Brinsea octo, but then never do. "They" say that broody hens are wonderful, but I just don't trust them as much. If it was something as valuable as what you're talking about, I'd probably use a really great incubator. That way you wouldn't have to worry about her quitting partway through, or other chickens stepping on the eggs, etc. I'd be happy to incubate them in my 'bator if you want. It only holds 7. I also have a styrofoam bator, but I don't trust it nearly as much.

MadChicken: I have three roosters: the French Black Copper Marans (head guy, seems to fertilize the majority of the eggs), a Golden Laced Polish, and a Cream Legbar (I thought he was too young, but I'm eyeing one of the chicks my hen is raising, and he's barred. I figure the legbar is the only possible daddy, so apparently, he's sneaking off with some of the girls). I have yet to see a chick fathered by the polish. Hen varieties are: black copper marans, golden laced polish, olive egger (fbcm X legbar and fbcm X lavender ameraucana), lavender Ameraucana, White Legbar X Lav Ameraucana, Speckled Sussex, RIR, EE, penciled hamburg, blrw, frizzles (both bantam and large fowl). I think that's all that's laying age.

Anyone interested in a beautiful splash EE? He is going to be very pretty...handsome.

I'm not quite sure if he is pure Ameraucana..or an EE. He has slate legs. I have tried to
get hold of the gal that I got the eggs from. She lives in the Jordan area. Probably will
know by tomorrow.

Oh wow Cynthia he really IS gorgeous!

Brought my babies home from the fair. They are totally happy to be home! I don't think they fed the boys very much so they are eating like pigs. I wondered about that when I kept checking on them, their seeds were always eaten/missing and they were both trying to get to seeds outside of their cage just beyond their reach. Might have to take treats down to them if we do it again. I am so glad that is over I have worried about them.

Now if we can just get this puppy potty trained now that the fair chaos is over. What a stinker. Really a stinker ! Oh the update on his name--we named him "Howie". It totally fits his personality :)

He seems to like to sleep with his head hanging down so the A/C blows on him. Spoiled baby
