Utah!

UCD, So sorry to hear about your baby. Hopefully no more sad news! I wonder what happened to the poor girl?

Stampede: A mouse fell out of the trap when I picked it up, and made the mistake of running back into the run. Woops!

I have never witnessed it, but my DH said he came out one morning to see the girls tearing apart a mouse

I just had to say, "Good Girls!"

UtahChickenDad, I'm so sorry for your loss. Which hen was it?

Lisa, too funny about the chicken stampede for the mouse. My chickens have never seemed to be too interested in mice.

Ha, Lisa that is funny. I've had two mice fought over this year. The big girls love them.

UCD, do you think you might know what happened to your girl? Sorry. :/

I know my chicks always mobbed my pet rats. It was bad, but funny in a way. But honestly, my rats were all buttery soft sweethearts, it wasn't too hard. Wimpy boys just like to cuddle. XD
But yeah, chickens and rodents don't mix. Which is a good thing most of the time, but not for rat enthusiasts like me. I miss my rats.

I threw out four out of five eggs today. To make up for it, I put ten more in... They're five days behind though, hope it works out alright.

I heard this story about someone who had an autism chicken. It had a vest on it with a pocket with her information in it, and she carried it around, it helped her be social. ^.^ My chickens are like my therapy animals. When I'm sad? Yup, time to hug a chicken.

You guys probably think I'm nuts now, huh? LOL

Lost 2 chicks today. Came home and they were gone. There was only 7 left in with the mama. I think i fixed the run to keep them in for 3 more weeks until they can be out with the big girls. On a good note I came home to find 3 bantam RIR chicks and 3 BSL (all boys).

Dwight my Mottled Houdans roo is for sale. Any interested? He did great at the fair. Anyone on here wanting him can have him.....off to KSL he will have to go if I cannot find a good home for him here.

My super sweet super quiet gorgeous boy has developed such a protectiveness over his hens ...my son cannot be around him anymore. I have had it. Have more hatching....will try again...if that does not work I will get another batch of chicks from McMurray if I have to. Roosters are just too big of a job to keep if they are going to be jerks. I keep him in the garage at night, he crows in the morning a few times in the garage-- not really again out in the yard unless I go out there near him, then again in the evening about 7:30-8 a few times (he knows it is time to come in). He is really quiet compared to my other one. But being way too testy. He minds me ok but is awful with my 13 yr old. He takes great care of his hens and feeds them, calls them, protects them, etc.

Hello! I'm back, anyone remember me? Haha, I jumped back on here really quick to make a very important question to everyone, it's sort of an emergency.
Is ANYONE near or in the Orem area missing 4 Chickens? Or know someone near or in the Orem area missing 4 chickens?
The police stopped by my house about a half an hour ago knowing I own chickens. He walked up to me, saying someone had found some chickens, and asking if they were mine. I, missing a young pullet and cockerel, said yes.
The man who found them came by as well and showed me the chickens, sadly they weren't mine. Although they aren't mine the police and the man who found them asked me to please hold them. Animal Control is coming tomorrow to make sure they're here, so that the man who found them won't have to take them to the shelter. But the police asked me to PLEASE ask around and help them find these poor bird's owners!

The birds are what seems to be maybe -
--a Black Sex-Link? She's a very big black bird with gold all over. She looks very old.
--a small, Ameraucana chick. She's black with gold and some red. Still cheeping like a baby. But fully feathered.
--another young chick, but surely a cockerel. It's a Red Cochin Cockerel, very young as well. Still has the baby voice and fully feathered.
--a black english game cockerel? He's older than the other chicks, but not an adult. His adult voice is barely cracking in, but he's fully feathered as well. He has the white earlobes.

They are all pretty tame and very scared to be away from home. If anyone can help me PLEASE LET ME KNOW! I don't want them to go to the shelter :(
