Good job, Lisa!

I had a bit of a scare tonight. I went outside after work to make sure that my broody with two chicks had both of her babies, as she keeps losing one of them at night. I found her in the coop with one chick under her, but no sign of the other baby. I could only hear one chick peeping. I just knew I was going to find the other chick cold and wet and dead or nearly-dead somewhere, so I went to grab a flashlight and came back. Well, my snooping under mama had apparently been enough to convince her to move up onto the perch in the coop. No babies under her now. But, I could hear two little voices peeping. Then it dawned on me that I have another broody in the coop, who is on the nine eggs she's appropriated. I looked under her and yep, she had both chickies, plus the nine eggs. I guess she's babysitting tonight. She was making little broody sounds while the chicks snuggled under her to stay warm. I gotta say, I was kind of amazed. This is my blue Wyandotte, my poofiest girl out there. She had not trouble covering all of "her" babies. Wow.

Is there anyone in the Logan area that has some frizzle chicks they would be willing to sell. My wife has been trying to find someone with them. She only wants a few of them and we don't have an incubator to hatch them out ourselves, so we would need chicks.

I'll be home in about 3 weeks and will have some frizzle fertile eggs and some frizzle chicks 3 weeks after that

I found out who's laying the giant pink eggs I love. It's my BSL pullet. The other day she managed to get her leg caught in the gate and mangled it a bit, so she's been in the garage recovering for a few days. She's laid two eggs in that time, one gorgeous speckled brown egg and one dark pink one. And yes, her leg is doing better

I went to IFA in American fork today to get a nipple waterer for the babies. They had new chicks in today and I may have come home with 2 new babies. They had BLRW so I couldn't resist! I got an EE to keep the BLRW company for the drive home. ;) We are now at capacity. :)

I have a frizzled little chick out there. Didn't expect that. I thought it was going to be a smooth little bantam cochin, but it's getting frizzled. Weren't you the one that wanted a frizzle? I am wanting the straight feathered ones.

My oldest would LOVE a frizzle, but I'm trying to keep chickens that are decent layers. I won't tell her you have one because she'll want it. :)

I was so surprised that IFA had BLRW. I'm sure that won't meet the SOP and all that...but I don't really care. I've wanted something blue in my flock since i started with chickens 2 years ago. The AF IFA also has all their different chick breeds the same prices.i think the SLC IFA had the rarer breeds different prices?
