Utah!

I've always bought white eggs for coloring Easter eggs, thinking that my "precolored" eggs wouldn't dye as nice. Below is my experiment though. All of the eggs were dipped in the same color. The far left is a white egg. Next is an olive egg. Next is a light brown. On far right is a medium brown egg. I'll never buy white eggs for Easter again.

Oh man, I just did the light green from Sheriff and then the light light tan eggs. I should have don't some dark brown ones too. Next year, I have like 4 dozen to color. Going to Grandmas in a few minutes to do that, but I don't want to leave my hatch again. HeHe.

Right now I have 27 chicks, and I think 1 pip. I know I have at least 8 OE, 2 Welsummers, 3 Brown Leghorns, and then the rest all are Ameraucanas and EEs, so I will just have to wait till they are down and look at the eggs, they are all marked to know for sure, or I guess separate them.

Just a reminder for anyone in Utah. If you have a very fluffy bearded Black silkie pullet (under 6mths) for sale let me know. I am addicted right now lol I want to find the heavily bearded ones, in all my favorite colors :)

Here's a couple pics I took of my 3 week old black silkie (hoping pullet) I took just today for fun :) I havent seen any trace of a crest growing on her yet so far so im thinking about selling her and waiting till I find one that does. I'm a big fan of the heavily bearded/crested babies, so I want to make room for one that does since I do have a limit I can keep lol. She's a sweetie though and wanted to follow me around outside lol I just wish she were fluffier. What do you guys think?

very nice but she won't get a crest

so far 5 of 6 of my frizzled easter eggers have hatched. I broke open one of my FCBM eggs and looks like it quit about a week ago. fully developed but stomach not closed and dead. I.m sure eds over watering them did it. my new incubator has an auto humidity pump on it so ed can keep his mits off. We went to IFA to buy food for the chicks and of course I bought a few. Didn't seem like I should run a brooder for 6 chicks so now I have 10. I want to buy some FBCM chicks if anyone has any.

Ah shucks thats what I was thinking :s I was hoping she might because the pic of her mom she had one but it was small. I hoped maybe hers might get bigger but I dont see anything there and I want the beautiful beards/crests. I guess i'll just sell her and hope to find another fluffier black one.

Ugh, sorry about the FBCM eggs not making it. I think they are a little fussier with regards to humidity. I have some hatching eggs if you want to try again- I'll be in T-Ville tomorrow.
