Utah!

So here's the latest addition, just in case, with the rest of the crew.

It's supposed to be a lavender orpington, 8 weeks old. Quite shy but I don't think it was handled much. It probably thinks it's in the looney bin given the behavior of the others.

Lisa, that little silkie looks black right? What do you think of that little body type, can you tell it's going to be pretty decent? The toes aren't as bad as the other little baby one's is. Not great, but not stepping on them. And, what about that noggin? Looking like a boy? Plus, the hair do? lol..I was thinking boy. Remember, I am keeping you in mind if I get a good blue in this next hatch. I have a lot that are looking good. A lot of people are wanting them, but you and Iluv are first, plus of course, I will be keeping the ones that I want to watch. There I go, counting my chicks, especially my silkies before they hatch! Come on little ones! A lot of the Paints were clear. :( I think I have three that are viable, but those eggs are tiny! I hope they make it. A paint would be fun.

I have a Silkie that is doing the same thing... wasn't handled much, in fact, the gal caught her with a net!

She's my quietest baby, until you go to pick her up... and then she squawks like you plucked out her feathers! takes a little bit to calm her down, but then she is calm, and isn't too bad.

Cynthia, maybe I should have you save a silkie for me ;) lol (I'll have to okay that with the hubby though)

This one does definitely have a smoky black thing going on, I can see why you thought it could be blue. I honestly don't know which it would be considered. Light black? haha :D I don't worry too much about slightly curled toes, I read that can be from incubation, rather than genetics....it is the toe spacing , where they are all evenly spaced out that is important. His little toe is a little closer one direction than the other, but not bad at all. I really like his temperament, he is a sweetie :D And his hairdo makes me lean toward boy also....he has that windswept thing starting, so we will see! Thank you again for sending him my way. He is going to be really pretty!

Bitsy, I feel bad you had to put your baby down, so sorry to hear that! :hugs

Awww I am so happy for you! Thats a beautiful coop and some beautiful babies! Where did you find your babies? Your white one looks white to me, but give it a week and it may change a ton. If you see any silver flickering in her wings she'll probably be a splash. What a fun easter for you!

Thank you! My honey found them at the Salt Lake IFA. I totally love them! The coop was an even bigger surprise! He put it together and painted it because he knew I wanted a white coop. And then hid it at his parent's house. We still need to add a six inch base and fill it with sand, but I kinda want to move into it myself! I am definitely one lucky girl!

That is so awesome he was able to surprise you like that! It is beautiful!

Ok, my best guess on these chicks is an OEGB, a Cochin - possibly GL - and an Egyptian Fayoumi. Let me know if you're interested. I'll get pictures later. Got a sick hubby to take care of tonight.

I absolutely love it. You do have an awesome hubby. My hubby does alot of great things for me, but I dont see him doing anything like that lol. I have to end up doing all my animal related stuff on my own lol. Did he actually pick out the chicks himself to and surprise you? Or did he take you and you picked them out? So cute, either way :) I am also going to add sand to the base of my coop and I also painted mine white! lol. I am pretty excited about it. I hope my babies love it. We need to add the sides to it to hold in the sand and then chose a spot in the yard for it, then ill fill it with sand. I havent been rushing it since the babies are still small, but I cant wait till its finished. :)

LL

I always like the sweet look on this babies face. :) Going to be a dark blue. Not black..lol...Your other babies are looking good. Will see what you get..boys or girls..???
