I've had a hawk circling over the house. Well, I was watching out the window, and as the hawk started to descend, ATTACK SPARROWS came out of nowhere and sent the hawk high tailing it out of here! So glad they chose my trees to build their nests!

Karen, thanks for the update on the eggs. I actually started keeping the white girls eggs after i gave you one just in case, but i only got 4 eggs from her and she has went broody again. I don't know what to make of her. Maybe she wants chicks of her own and doesn't want to sure with another hen. My splash on the other hand is laying 3-4 eggs a week. Spike the frizzle has joined the flock again and her chicks are just kind of running around the big run by themselves. The hang out under the bush with my special needs RIR. She will come running if she hears them chirping because someone is picking on them. Usually the culprit is one of the Wellsummers. They seem to be kind of aggressive. I hope Spike starts to lay again soon and i can collect her eggs. I would like to get a couple more Sizzles.Hey Gary, I candled those Silkie eggs tonight, and just thought I would let you know that all 3 Splash are growing, and so is the White Silkie. The other LF egg doesn't look like it, but I left it with her. I'll check again in a few days on that one before I pull it. But just wanted to let you know that your White is fertile.Lets just hope that all 4 hatch, that would be awesome, and I might finally get a Splash of something.
Lisa I'm still interested in a Splash Maran if you get a few. If not I might have to try my luck out with some eggs.![]()
Lisa, yes i am still looking for some Quail but not right at this moment. My 3 hens are still laying but i don't know for how much longer. They started laying late last fall and have not stopped. i did add a light in their box so they could get warm and it also keep the water from freezing. How long do quail lay? I have read they only lay for a year when forced. What is your experience? Also when i am ready i do want some white ones, are those the A&M's?

Did you still have that roo chick you are trying to rehome? Nice set up, I just couldn't bring myself to caging Rocket, I like to let them just enjoy chicken life lol so no point in showing him he has already drug his wing feathers down some lol!I have had a busy day. With the help of my neighbors I put some of my serama cages together. they I had to gut my barn to arrange everything. I havn't got it quite finished but wanted to share pictures as they look pretty good and my birds are happy![]()
This is jackson. I bought him from OC Seramas. Kate said he was her best rooster and she was keeping him to show at nationals. She let me buy him as long as I show him at nationals so I will.
This is Psycho he is a frizzled white, Very nice bird but does not like to be handled. Hence his name

I decided to wait a bit and see how the roo chicks looks. Because hes from OC I have even had out of state people wanting him. I have one roo Serama Sammy that runs around my yard but if I left the others they would just fight.
That's why I tolerated the thieving magpies in West Valley - they kept the Cooper's hawk away from my hens.
