Quote: I've had incredible results with it. Having the humidifier going in the room makes it so you can open the incubator to do whatever you need, and the humidity doesn't drop dramatically. Just wicking the water trench brings the humidity up considerably. It's easier for the water to evaporate off of a cotton surface because it can breath, or at least my crazy brain thinks so, but it's working soo maybe I'm not super crazy. . . .

. Who am I kidding lol. But ya it really does work wonders considering we have 0% humidity here in good old St. George.

I have 4 fuzzy butts.... And 6 more pips.... Not too worried, its just going into day 20. Day 21 is really tomorrow. So these babies are early. All out of the Ameruacana eggs that I got, I do have some pips on the BLRW. Nothing on my 3 Silkie eggs left :( I was hoping for a Silkie.... But there is still time..

I have a pip. I heard peeping in the one bator, and no pips. So what happens first..a pip in the bator that made no noise.

So I left my house for 2 hours. Come back, now have 6 chicks but the humidity dropped to 42%

Even with all my wells and extra crap in there and 6 wet babies running around. So I actually rushed them in my smallest bathroom and turned on the hot shower to help bring them up super fast. I so how that they aren't shrink wrapped. I have several now that have the same very very small cracks as last night. Come on babies....

I love it! Finally something worth watching!
I left for a few minutes and came back to a baby!
Congrats Ace!
What are you hatching?
Thanks! These are the Black Out Babies! :)

The six green eggs are from a Wheaten Ameraucana x Barred Rock rooster over a Wheaten Ameraucana x Easter Egger hen.

The cream egg is the same rooster over a White Leghorn cross.

(I asked my wife to move the bator so I could see the chick on the camera... she moved it a little too close! :) I will adjust it when I get home this evening!)

me brian?
Yes!!!
Are you still planning on some chicks? I know you are one for eye candy, and I hatched out the most beautiful silver Wyandotte barred rock wheaten Ameraucana crosse bout a month ago! I don't think I'll have enough room with the new chicks hatching, so I am unfortunately willing to part with it if you'd like it. Let me post a picture of it. It still doesn't have all its adult coloring yet, but it is going to be gorgeous. Let me know if you want it and I will just throw it in with the Sussex.
