Utah!

Just a friendly reminder that I am still looking for good quality black silkie hens if anyone has any they'd be willing to sell or trade :) Black with silver leakage is okay to.

I am hoping I will get blue! He has a lot of blue in him. Plus, I have a red pullet out there with the prettiest black lacing, no, she doesn't look a thing like a wyondotte, but she came from the prettiest Olive egg..wonder what that EE and her would make. Also, a pretty little feather footed pullet. Lots of different things..and, I am hoping I can keep a Marans Rooster. Ha, wishful thinking, want to keep the sweetest boy I can. Last one I tried, went after my little Doxie. Couldn't have that. This guy is so mellow right now...hope he stays that way.
I have pips right now in my bator with the Marans, but it's the blue eggs ...that are supposed to be OE eggs..not..One is dark enough to say, yeah, I guess. :) Nice sized eggs..I have 4 Marans eggs, very large. Tomorrow is hatch day, wonder if any of the Marans will pip tonight.

So, I know most everyone is not wanting a crowing rooster. lol..but, I have this cockerel that was hatched for the NYD hatch a long. No crowing yet! He's 4 months old. You can see he's a he. So what's the latest you have had a rooster crow? And, when are they able to start fertilizing eggs? Once they crow? Mount? I sure hope he is a quiet one most of the time. I have a rooster collar waiting for him. You can see that he is an EE, came from a pretty blue/green egg, more blue. I wonder what a leghorn with him would make. Blue egg layers? Hope so! That's my Barred Rock for sale next to him. They are always together, he will miss her. If she sells. :) My pretty Missy had a bath and a comb, still a lot of under coat to get..takes a few days to get it done right. I can't do it in one..whew.
Missy is beautiful! She looks like she's glowing! If I didn't have chicks coming out of my ears I would take your barred rock! She's a pretty little thing!

La Casa, I may, or may not have some leghorn eggs under my broody... From the Astro roo over a brown leghorn, and an exchequer leghorn.

Hey! How did your hatch go?
Best hatch I have gotten so far. Only half made it though. I know its because of the darn incubator and its causing the eggs to grow at different rates even though it has a fan and thats suppose to make the temp more even. I waited till the last second to lock down and it's those chicks that were ready to pip that all hatched the best that they have yet, but all the slower ones just drown and I didnt even have the humidity high this time! All the others hatched great and dry as they should, but I did end up helping 2 out who got stuck because the inside of the shell was drying out too fast because I purposely had the humidity low. But even so the other half of the eggs just quit. Didnt even finish absorbing or anything. Not sure why this keeps happening but im narrowing it down to because they are all developing a little faster/slower then others and the slower ones are the ones I keep loosing right as soon as I up the humidity even a little bit. I really need to get a decent incubator and hatcher. I am going to save up and try to find one on ksl.

Congratulations on the better hatch! And I'm sorry that you keep losing little ones. I'll keep my eyes open for you!
Did you get any little polka dot babies?
I saw that you are still looking for a great black hen. I'll keep my eyes open for that as well.
If you ever decide to rehome Olive or Jellybean I would take them back in a heartbeat!
