Utah!

Well, if you get a hen, I don't see why you shouldn't get a "more" blue of an egg, because all of the eggs were either blue, or blue/green. I know, blue! There were only two in there that were blue/green, I know, because you have me looking at colored eggs now. I mean really looking, like, it that blue, or blue green..hmm..

I do believe chick and egg fever has struck. Is everyone getting some except for me?? Since we can't keep that little white rooster, that means no new hens for him right now...........which means I have to wait to get chicks from CAL Ranch.....................boo.

Do any of you ever do egg swapping? And if so, what are some breeds you're interested in getting?

Cynthia - my birds are in Tooele, so they're getting more of the snow and cold than we are where I am, but they seem to be fine. They've got their new coop all set up and I've been trying to feed them some rice to help keep them warm and happy. I can tell my girls don't like much snow, but if they see I have a treat in my hand, they'll come charging across the white stuff with no questions asked!

HANG ON A MINUTE. It's Elk's birthday?? HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

We always want what we cannot have, don't we? If I had three blue egg layers I would be wishing for green :celebrate

Red, yes chicken/egg fever is happening! It is like a soap opera---"As the Egg Turns" :pop first chicks then by summer it will be like

Christmas as we all open our little gifts to see what is inside, "blue or roo" :p :p :p

Cynthia---it is windy today, and it is COLD wind, no fun going out to get eggs. My girls seem cozy enough in their little plastic wrapped run, hope tonight they are not too miserable. My black girls just do what the rest do.....they have been out there since they were about 8 weeks and they seem fine, the cold does not seem to bother them at all. It is amazing how fast they get used to the weather once they get their feathers!
Msemanuel--have not seen the feed at walmart, I will check it out. Do you know how much it is? Is mana pro stuff ok do you know?

They had chicken scratch for $10 a 40 pound bag the lady said in there said they were getting egg layer and grower. Not sure about the mana pro. My nephew said he used to buy it and it was ok. But he is cheap hard to tell from him how good the quality is.

Yes, I thought I sent you a msg but yup, planning on being there. Better email me your ph# again tho... may need it as we get close. Can't wait! and thanks for saving my "little ballerina" chickie!

Walmart? Sell chicken feed? I live south of there, quite a ways, but I wonder if they will start selling it here. That would be something to check out.

Hey Elk...where are you? Getting ready for that party tomorrow? Let me know if you are coming Sunday. I looked at that picture that you liked, and I know which chick that is. It is the only one with that much white on "her." I'm saving that one for you for sure. That one is really sweet. They all have sweet faces.
Let me know when you can if you are coming. Good luck with your b-day party. :)
Love getting to see the faces of folks on here.

Yes, pls no adding more years...having a hard enough time covering up the gray! and after the teen's party of 25+ tomorrow I'll really feel old. Did I mention they'll be here ALL AFTERNOON? Was supposed to be a sledding party but not very much snow, was originally 1/7 and postponed just hoping for some. ugh. I can hear the giggling and music already.

It was so fun to meet you, Cynthia! I have to admit many jokes were made about picking up chicks in the winco parking lot. Then, there was even more jokes when we went to our friends' house. It was a friendly poker game- so I brought chickens to a poker game. Awesome. That is totally going to not help my reputation as a crazy chicken lady. LOL

Lisa, my 6 year old has become very attached to one of the chicks already, so I'm going to call that one for her, then I'll let you pick your first pick from the rest, and if you didn't grab my son's first pick, I'll take that.

As a side note, I have my chick cam on the brand new chicks, so you're welcome to watch them. :)

My eggs have gone into lockdown, and I'm seeing them wiggling.

We have loved watching the older batch. It has given us a few heads up when we get ours (soon before the 21st so we hear). I can sit here and watch all day and now the new batch yeah. I want to thank you for the effort. You blog s last entry was good also we never laughed so hard. Take care

Shinx, it was nice meeting you too. Your daughter has that personality plus charm. She is not shy at all. Too cute!
Where is that chick cam link? Still on that one page? I want to see how those feathers start showing up..and who gets them first.
I don't know if the polish is showing up or not, but I put two in with the polish, and two without..doesn't really mean I'm right, but I was thinking the ones with the polish are more likely pullets, and I thought, two each for you and two for Lisa with the polish, but yeah, maybe you can feather them better in a few days!

I bought some boss while in there. Well, my chickens didn't even care for it. Yet. Maybe after I throw some down for a few days they will. In the meantime, my son is going to put some in his cockatiels food. She likes it.
