Utah!

Woops you are farther away from me, I am in Logan. I am sure there are people on here from around there though :) Good luck with your new project! I was where you are last Spring, my hub built me a coop for Mother's day, and I have turned into a complete Chicken NUT! haha! :D

Hey Sphinx----I found a page for Dick Horstman's polish. They are the black with white heads. $32 per dozen, with shipping. He claims they are good layers---of large white-ish eggs. I remember CYnthia's problems with eggs arriving in bad shape but if it is warmer, maybe it will be better, and he was really good to make things right with her.....here is the link http://horstmanspoultry.com/largefowlhome/whitecrestedblackpolish.html

I know that is crazy because I only need three eggs. Would you want to incubate the rest? I can't just throw them away, that is sad. If you want the rest you could have them...you could try to hatch 7 of them and if it worked keep whichever ones you want....I would take the leftover ones if any. See if any turn into girls, then sell or give the others away after being sure what gender...even give you back a girl if yours turns into boys...it seems like a good way to try somehow someway to get a girl for each of us out of that dozen eggs lol! If it all fails and none hatch it was fun trying at least lol :)

I have not contacted him to see if/when available yet, I wanted to first see what you thought., and if you liked the idea what timing would work best, I know your Brinsea is booked to the school for a bit. Let me know if it is something you would want to try :) It is just a crazy idea running around in my head :weee

yeah tomato leafs are bad for chickens. it may be smart to fence off the tomatoes for a few reasons, the big one is the chickens will eat every tomato that grows so if you want some for you to eat i would fence them off. but yeah never feed them tomato leafs. also i read that sunflower leafs can also kill them so only feed the seeds.

Cynthia-I looked and there are a few in Spanish Fork but the pickup time is 5:45 am

I am so checking this out! I will get up that early for some good veggies and fruit.. I love bananas, and don't mind them on the green side!!!!
Broccoli! Tomatoes!
Thanks!

Hey, I just had to share this picture of one of my EE's. The pictures just don't do it justice..it comes running over to me in the bin when it hears my voice! And it is in there with all of the others, so it isn't like it is lonely. Both eyes are dark brown, then a red head, and then the chipmunk body..too cute, and it looks like a girl!
My pup is peeking around the corner after I shooed him away.
After looking at some of the pictures..some I didn't use here, I'm going to have to check those legs out..may be a bit splayed..time to get out the band aids if so. Isn't she cute?? Will post pics of my BLRW's when all of them are dry. They are all out now. :)

Oh I am glad you wrote this....was thinking of planting those big sunflowers at the end of the run. Will make sure they are much harder to reach if I do, and be careful with those :sick
