Utah!

Phoenix, LOVE your coop paint! I painted the new run today too--gorgeous out but it got hot there for awhile! All HenRee had to do was see me, and she turned mean....see I have a knack for bringing out the worst in my girls :p Our new polish is named "rockstar".

Looks like I am going to head to Reds on Friday, pickup some eggs from Donna (Donna does Fri work for you and I will buy that second batch that you bring home Thurs? I would rather hatch them I think then this lady who wants them later would be thrilled AND I get more to learn with I had exactly enough to sell to the other people, kust need 5 for her) so Phoenix-- if they have that cuckoo marans let me know if I can pick it up Fri. for you! No prob.

Cynthia, they are all fantastic. Looking forward to whatever you send home for me :) :yiipchick The older one does look like it could be a she.....at least there are not three rows up there turning pink! Those babies are the bomb :0 so sweet!
I wondered if that green meant bacteria...it smelled kinda gross. Thanks for the response! Looks like I had two of those, they were small and younger with a big green bag they were curled around, then the other three were ready to go no blood left totally developed, died in the process....I think I got them too cold....also one was face down. Still figuring out those thermometers too I think I have one digital that might be off. Going to get that figured out before I put my Marans eggs in tomorrow. The ones that did work are awfully spunky, and they did come right out....all on their own, so I just need to get my temps straight, I think I would have had two more hatch.

Congrats on your hatched babies...now we will need more pictures...love this thread! Lots of babies, and pictures going on around here..lol

Red---did you see Birdguy has Icelandics? I could pick one up for you at Chickenstock....Birdguy hope you have a great hatch!

Cynthia, I forgot to mention that prom pic....woo hoo you are lookin' pretty hot right there girl! I love that you posted that, how fun!

If you're talking about the young Black Ameraucana outside, she is around a month old, would have to look. I really thought it looked like a girl with the feathering in the beginning.

See you Tues? I'm excited to meet you! Oh, I took pics earlier of my mixes, and my Exchequers..just didn't get them on.
The ones with the dark spots on the heads are the EE's. Then there are a couple of reds, and a couple of buffs. One buff for sure, is feathering out, has quite the tail already. On the right also..one of the EE's looks good to be a girl. See the wings and the tail? Some of the others don't have tails yet.
My Exchequers' and my Silkie. It's going to be funny seeing a Silkie running in a flock of Exchequers. :) Of course I won't be keeping all of the Exchequers.
They are hiding in the corner..they think, from me.
Cynthia, I love your Exchequers! Please forgive this newbie question....what exactly is an "Exchequer"?

I'm so far behind on everyone's posts....let's see what I can remember and touch on... :)

Cynthia-Love all your pics! The prom pic, the new doggy pic (I'm a Doberman, Australian Shepherd and Whippet person, but I believe your dog's color is called Piebald) and of course, all the chick pics! What do you use to try to clean the dried on goop off the chicks?

Lisa-I'm so sorry about your dead baby. So sad! And a possible cold right side of an incubator?

Phoenix-LOVE your new coop! Too cool!

I'm sad I won't be able to attend Chickenstock this year, but will plan for next year! May 5th I'm picking up our new goats, and I will hopefully have babies hatching and want to be close by, so I do have real excuses. LOL

Love all the pictures! Prom pictures were fun of Cynthia's boy and of you Cynthia! Your hair was amazing! Too fun. My last daughter had her senior ball last night also. Last time for me and my children's dances. :(
Slvrphoenix- love you coop set up! I love your different runs and areas for your chickens.
Thanks for all the cute chick pictures.
It was day 10 for my eggs so I canceled and found one not fertile one had an early death but 10 living chicks all moving around! I'm so so happy. That was also checking the 5 under my broodies. Hopefully a better hatch this time.

Sasha---
I candled all my eggs, including mine to go in lockdown tomorrow. I have only candled mine once before....so I was holding my breath....

On yours, there are an awful lot of infertile/clear eggs in there-----clear as a bell. I counted 7 positively clear, 3 looked quite clear but there were quite speckled shell so I am going to keep those another week and double check. 14 looked good like they were developing along. So between these and yours we should have 20 working so far.

My Marans eggs! Ugh!!! out of 6, 4 still looked very clear. Ya the shells are dark but they looked night and day from the 2 that were full and dark. It is hard to tell but the four really look like they never even started. It just looked like a yolk in there.
Wheatens---3 of 4 were dark and full 1 was totally clear.
Blue Orps---5 of 6 looked full and dark. 1 was totally clear.
So 10 total will go in lockdown......but only 2 of the Marans, 3 wheatens, and 5 blue orps. I was not going to keep the orps. But wow they are giant eggs for orps......we will see what happens. I am starting to see the issues with shipped eggs......All my own eggs and eggs I have picked up developed really nice but with my shipped eggs and Sasha's shipped eggs, lots of duds.

Of course the Marans are the ones I want the most Urgghh!

Sasha---on a really bright note...on the Chickenstock thread a member is taking 2-4 month old Wheaten Ameraucanas to sell!!! I asked her if I could get one for sure. Are you interested? She said they come from very blue eggs, not green. I could bring one back for you. I hope the Marans breeder is there and I can get some more eggs or even better chicks. Crossing fingers. I should put a few of you on speed dial that day and you could shop by phone :)

Lisa-20 isn't bad at all considering I "ordered" 24. ;) I'm happy with that! Whether or not they all hatch will be another thing, but even if we get 12 that hatch, that was the number I was figuring from the start. Any extras we get will be a blessing.
That's really sucky about the Marans eggs!
YES! I want one of those Wheaten Ameraucanas for sure! 2 months old would fit right in with my teenagers. That would be perfect! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Did I know there was a Chickenstock thread? I had better go check this out! LOL

Now that I'm re-reading your post...is that, the seller has 2 Ameraucanas that are 4 months old or Ameraucanas that are 2-4 months old? LOL Either way, I do want one! :)

I just put 8 eggs under my friends broody Australorp. .rooster is a splash EE (from a blue egg) and hens are supposed to be Wheaten Ameruacanas (3-blue and 3 green). 1 egg is from my RIR and 1 is from my RIR x Buff Orpington.wish me luck. PS DOES ANYONE WANT A ROOSTER?
