Utah!

Hey Red good job finding those eggs! I talked to Cynthia----if you will bring me a few treats from her house back with you I will come meet you somewhere if you are still willing!

You betcha! I'd be happy to relay some goodies for you. Still not sure which day I will be going down, but I'll let you know as soon as we get something worked out

And I'm sorry you lost a baby, Lisa. That must have been sad to find. Angel is still having some issues with pasty bum, but I'm working on keeping her clean so that she's comfortable. I wonder if it's because some of those Wyandottes have such long feathers? I had read somewhere that sometimes you'd need to trim a Wyandotte hen's vent feathers to ensure that she can breed easily. With how long Angel's wing feathers are already, it wouldn't surprise me. And I figured out a name for the other baby. Stevie. I figure if it's a girl, it reminds me of Stevie Nicks. If it's a boy, then it's named after Steve Owen, aka the Croc Hunter

Cynthia, your new doggie has a sweet face! How old is he/she? And your son looks handsome. That's a bummer that you didn't get to see his date, though. Aww I'd have been highly disappointed, too.

So, I am so stupid excited right now! Last night I checked on my broody Marans, and she growled at me and tried to bite me. I actually thought it was pretty cute. "These are MY babies!" My boyfriend managed to sneak a picture of what was under there today when she got up to walk around. Check it out!

At least 14 eggs! Possibly 15

Does anyone else see both pink and medium brown in that? (I think I see pink in the middle, brown toward the back) I am pretty sure now that she's sitting on a stash of the BSL's eggs, as well as a few of her own. Today is day 9, I think. I need to go look up pictures to see what candling on day 9 looks like! And this along with the 16 they were hiding under some plywood, plus one or two eggs that have shown up in the nest box. I only have two hens. They're sure pumping them out!

Aw, Lisa, it doesn't bode well that the others haven't done anything. Since they are all from the same group, they should have gone pretty close to each other. :( most of mine have popped out like popcorn, with only one or two lagging behind. Don't know what the green business in the egg is about, but it doesn't sound good! Guess it doesn't hurt to leave them in a while longer, but it doesn't sound very hopeful...

Thanks Red! I will come meet you after you pick them up.

Donna--do you have any eggs from Fort Chicken? I would like to buy some from you if you do.
I was thinking maybe if I make the trip to see Red I could stop to buy eggs from you on my way. My lady that was going to buy 5 wants to wait until the ones in her bator hatch in just under three weeks so the chicks can all be together so If i hatched some more the timing would be better. :)

Let me know if that is a possibility :) Then I can see two chicken friends with one trip. While picking up chicks from a third chicken friend.

Phoenix you could see if that cuckoo roo is still available I would be glad to grab that one too :)

Anybody else needs a chicken to hitch a ride from Logan to SLC and back let me know.

I am wondering the same thing. It might not be because they were on the floor....I am starting to think I have a cool spot in my still air bator, because the ones I had issues with last time were on the right side, and these were on the right side.....might have to pile them all on the left from now on. That side has 100 percent hatch rate :) the right side, if these do not hatch--- I have a 20 percent hatch rate. Sounds sketchy huh! I am still figuring this all out. Plus my kids opened the bator while I was at my moms on that side, that would have cooled it even more. So my eggs hatching this week, go into lockdown on Monday, they will be on the left side for sure. Will see what happens!

And you never know about these. Maybe. Will look in there late tonight if no more pips.

Lisa-- my roommates should be bringing down eggs this evening and I am going up there Thursday and should have more down here Thursday night. The ones they are bringing down today will be a range of 0-5 days old, so they should all be good for another day or two. When we're you coming down this way? I've set a text to my roommates to find out how many eggs they collected.

Donna---it depends on what night Red goes to Cynthia's--not sure yet. It has to be after her trip so I can get my chicks....

I could maybe work it out to come on Fri. instead of earlier....to wait for the eggs, if Red can handle my chickens til then :) Red would that work? Or do you need me there sooner?

Cynthia--ok so your boy wont be getting a thump on the noggin

i do understand what groups are like, you do not want to be the dorky one saying "i gotta go see my mama!" hehe.
Waiting for pics. Love the baby pics

Sphinx have you rehomed your lav roo or are you keeping him? Just curious. I think i am going to clear some boys out over the next week or so. It is hard, you kind of attached ya know?!
I picked up Phoenix' polish yesterday. Pretty good hairdo on that one! Mixed right into the flock no prob. I am thinking maybe boy....but the jury is out so it is worth a try. Love the polish. I thought about this last night and I have a plan....next year when I do the re-adjusting to my flock i think i want to go for 1/3 polish with a silkie or two thrown in there for the looks and pet aspect not the egg aspect, 1/3 brown good egg layers for the eggs for eating , 1/3 colored egg layers for the fun of the colors. There. Got it figured out. Finally. For today

So my other eggs are not doing much. I, being the oh so impatient one, look in the pipped one, and NO it is not alive. and it was not ready at all when it died.... AND there is waaaaay too big of a yolk sack in there, and it is Dark Green like forest green....ewwww not looking too good. Anybody know what that is about? I saw a dark yellow yolk sack before but not dark sticky green like this. I wonder about those others---going to keep waiting. No chirps. No pips.
Green, infection. Died before it got all the way absorbed, I wouldn't want to absorb green stuff either.

Oh oh, how many do you have in there..when is the due date? I hope you don't go through what I just did. Still need pictures..company gone..pictures now. :)

Lisa, whatever works out best for you all-- my roommates are apparently bringing down 20 eggs today and I will probably have pretty close to that on Thursday. I could also stick these eggs in my incubator for you if you want, though that's not as fun for you! Would you like any of the chicks I have? Didn't know if you ended up with enough for the folks who wanted them up your way.

Sure, Lisa. It's not a problem. I should have enough room in my brooder, so I can certainly hold on to them for you until the weekend

(Psst, Cynthia. I know you've been busy, but could you check your PM inbox when you get a minute?
