True. I think I'd just die of glee if I got one that ends up with that fun speckling or patchy pattern they sometimes display. And yes! I'm very much looking forward to seeing what that Marans hatches out! I will be sure to put up some pictures when she does.

yeah i like them but they would not do well in my flock. if i could have roosters i would maybe do it but i cant. they would be perfect for red, and i would love to see what babies she gets from them. come on red you know you want them and plus because they are rare any chicks they hatch out would be quick sellers. they are little survivors and are great at free ranging and i guess they lay well too plus the fact you do not have to go up to idaho to get them is a big plus

Thanks for the info Cynthia! I do leave the top plugs open, at least one...but I duct tape the plug to the outlet, remember it fell out and my eggs froze? My dog knocked it out because he hangs out under the table where the bator is waiting for those chicks. he totally knows what is going on up there haha!

Oh yeah! I forgot...

Not so funny then, a little more easy to think about now? That's a good idea, I love that duct tape!

Okay, so..........Birdguy, how much are you planning on asking for for Icelandics? Because apparently I need to get a couple for birdman, hehehehe. Brad, you just like to watch me squirm, don't ya?

And, look what I got for my boyfriend!



I picked up a pair of Broad Breasted Bronze poults at IFA while I was out getting vitamins for my teenagers. The boyfriend's been wanting some for a while, but hasn't been able to pick any up when Cal Ranch gets in their shipments because he's always working. He's sick today, so I'm excited to surprise him.

I have decided that poults are extremely cute

They're quite different from chickens, too. These ones cry very loudly whenever I walk away from the brooder. Once I show up and talk to them, they settle right down. I had one of them falling asleep on my hand, head hanging against my thumb and all. Tried to get a picture, but it woke up and gave the camera a stinkeye.

Phoenix, my signature used to have a small, impossible chick wishlist, and one of the breeds I've been wishing for was Icelandics. Lisa must have remembered it and offered to pick one up for me when she goes to the Chickenstock soon, since Birdguy will be selling some. And I guess Brad wanted to jump on the wagon, too, because he seems to love torturing me, heh

I'll be the one laughing when I dump umpteen-million barnyard chickies in his lap........muahaha!
