Tell us about your flock.

Yay!!! SashaT so glad you have the other little Polish chicks. I miss them! I really do. I should have chocolate in this batch of eggs! There are enough of them so I will be keeping my fingers crossed that I have a good hatch.

I've candled and after 3 days this is what they are looking like.
The ones in my Brinsea Mini Advance look like they are a bit ahead of the Hova-Bator ones. I hope I'm keeping the temp right in it.
You need to find a photo contest and enter this photo. You would definitely have my vote if I was a judge. AWESOME!!!!!

I'm very close to Provo! I live in Lindon!

Welcome to BYC.

Because I have a smart-alec personality, I have to ask the question, When Lindon petitioned the state of Utah to put an "L" on the side of the mountain, why did the state tell them no?

Because they didn't want the mountain to say UGLY!!!! (by the way, I am from the town that claims the "G" on the mountain but I haven't lived there in about 40+ years)

Just in case there are a few of you who don't get it (you know, the ones that aren't from the SLC-Provo area) the other three letters are already on the mountain. U - U of U, G - Pleasant Grove, and Y - BYU

Sasha love the picture of you and Howard! Thanks for sharing, Are you guys really old enough to have a daughter who has graduated? She must be your first. You are very bad talking about Cochins and showing pictures. If I din't have eggs already in the incubator I would be buying some.

Daloorashens is that your little Delawares in your picture? Man they are cute.
Thanks Sasha, now Lisa's chickens will be able to spot the "creepy stalker dude" by sight

. Auntie Hattie, I am not that young. I have a daughter who is about to start her Senior year at Virginia Tech (although she just turned 20 in March), and I spent 23 years and 9 months in the Army and am now retired. Sasha on the other hand, is only 29 (and has been for a couple of years now).

Cynthia that picture was from the Brinsea here is one from the Hova-Bator
What do you think? Thats neat you got to look at Venus.

Sphinx glad you were able to have your get together. It has been windy here all day. Not fun.

Bird Man I love how you said your EE is "a joy to have in the flock". She is a lucky bird to have you care for her and MoriahQuilts yours will be too. They just have more character.

You are good at this candling thing. They are looking good! When you go to candle all of them, you will find that a few seem to either be behind a bit, or ahead more, especially when you get close to lock down. Nice job!
Haha!! I'll remember that=)

Welcome adillydally... this is a fun thread.... silly chickens are addicting=)
I had some girls that loved the camp outs, or really really didn't want to go. Hey, we need to see what that Red is up to. Thought she was coming this way...RED, where are you? lol..

Reitred Army? My DH is too. You will be so happy to have that Ins. retirement, if you aren't already. That's all we have now since my DH has retired. It is great ins!

Sasah, you are adorable, and what a cute couple you two make. Thank you so much for posting your picture. You look too young to have a graduate!

Yes I should have cuckoo also.

Please stop showing me pictures of Cochins. I want one so bad.

I'm afraid I am going to have to incubate some bantam Cochins if no one else does. I was silently hoping you were selling yours SashaT.

blujems maybe I could get just a few eggs from you?

I don't have the chickens. I was babysitting a friends animals and kept all the eggs while I was there, and took pics.
Ok so they go into lay but not sleep? Is that what the curtains make them do?
Yes they go in and lay, then sleep on the roost. I am very happy, it has been a couple of months and none sleeping in it.

Sasha, you guys are both very good looking and look way too young to have a kid graduating high school.

TRex, I haven't heard the UGLY joke in years. Yep. Still funny.

Lisa, hope your little guy's foot heals up ok. I think at this point, you've done all you can to give him/her a fighting chance. My chick's toes aren't perfect, but I did see an improvement, and I think they're "good enough". I'd love to hear you guys' thoughts though.

For reference, here was before:

Oh, I wasn't clear if opinions were being requested. If so, on the second candled egg, I think that is definitely good, but early in.

Just so you know I told hubby we were going to hang curtains in the coop and looked at me like I was crazy, Guess I am kind of crazy. Went out to check the new chickens this morning. The Silverlace wyandot was in the nest and laid an egg. The others are out getting acquainted. The friendly RIR followed me like a puppy so I picked her up and carried her around while I was checking out everyone. That made her very happy. Maude my boss hen was being very vocal and telling everyone that she was the boss. The new cochin that is a gold lace is really pretty. I have never seen a cochin that. color. I hope to post some pictures of her later

I think my husband thought I was crazy too at first, but he is very happy we don't have to clean out the nest boxes every day.
