Utah!

Lisa, yes, the Icelandic from Cynthia is looking girly to me so far. Her coloration is reassuring to me (her feathers are the color of toasted golden marshmallows) but I won't get a good bead on her gender until she's about 6 weeks old. Come on, Sheila. Just a couple more weeks. Don't go red in the face, pleeeeease! I love, love, love her, though. So does my mom. She is very mellow and spends a lot of time laying around and relaxing. If you pick her up so that her legs dangle and her tummy is on your hand, she'll just lay there contentedly and let you give her attention.

Sasha, I've got it opposite, hehe. Some people tend to think I'm older than I am, at least online. I find it to be very complimentary

Yeah, I know, tootin' my own horn. Shows how mature I really am, hehe. But of the people on here I've met, I will say that Sphinx, Sasha, and Lisa all looked younger than I expected. Cynthia looked just like I thought she would, but that's only because I cheated and saw a picture of her first

Both Birdman and Hector were taller than I thought they'd be, which was fun. Let's see, who else have I met? Did I forget anyone?

Ok, I'm having to sit on my hands here. I don't know what my problem is, but I keep thinking lately how much I want another BR. The pullet I had before was a superb layer, and very mild. And you guys are starting to make me want a Polish. I keep seeing that WCB in Aunt Hattie's avatar. Oi, the things stress can do, I tell you! I shall resist. I shall resist.

Hey Lisa, is that Violet in your avatar? Cuuuute.

Holy moly!!!  I'm not sure I followed all of that!!

Ok Lisa, I would love to hold onto your polish from hattie, that is no problem at all, I have plenty of room in the brooder=)  but if sasha is going to get them, that is great, too, whatever is easier for everybody!!

And Sphinx... did you say BLRW??  Are they pullets?? I may have to have 1 or 2 if they are pullets=)

But, Birdguy.. wasn't that gorgeous roo in that one pen a wyandotte (splash was it??) with the black wyandotte hen??  I know I'm going to have to have me some of those wyandottes eventually....  Now it's getting urgent to get that pen at my mom's finished, hehe...

I'm really hoping my older pullets start laying soon, I got 3 from Azriel at chickenstock, and the EE is looking quite red in the face, and she said her BSL and orps that are the same age have started laying, so I'm crossing my fingers!!  The BSL is a Marans cross, so I'm really hoping for a semi-dark egg, and maybe even a blue one from the EE... it's been pretty hot, here the last week or so, so that may be delaying them, I only got one egg yesterday from my 6 hens that are laying, when I got 5 on Sunday and 6 on Saturday...

Sasha said she is meeting Hattie and will get them. Thanks for your willingness to help though! Then I can get them a little sooner, she is here by me. I will see you soon in July with your OE Pullet from Michelle When I get home tonight I will get some pics up, or in the morning so you can see your new girl.

My Blue Wheatens from Azriel are barely pink, not red at all, and they are 5 + months old. They better hustle the waiting for the blue egg is torture.....

Bird man, I agree that Echols is one of the best not just in the US, but in the world.

I have a dear friend who is a world renowned equine surgeon. When my "$750" horse needed emergency surgery, south valley told me to put him down as he was not worth the $$$ to save him. But my surgeon (who flew in from another state on 24 hours notice to save him) told south valley very sternly that every horse he sees is a million dollar race horse, because that is how their owners see them. I personally apply that principle to all of my pets, whether horse, dog, cat or goose and expect all professionals to have that degree of care for their patients. If they don't, they need to change professions.

I appreciate that many clients have had positive experiences with Harris, but she crossed the line with me, and based on the opinion of fellow vets after review of her chart notes on my goose, I am being encouraged by them to file a dopl complaint. I am a determined and highly educated person and have learned over the years to go the distance to find help where none is apparent, which is lucky for my goose... But I would HATE to see another owner go to Harris for help and feel like they did not have options if faced with a similar situation. To me, recommending euthanasia without taking x-rays, attempting treatment or even recommending another vet with more experience is reprehensible.

Sorry for my tirade. Will step off my soapbox now.

RED!!!!! I have BR in my bator lol and no buyers yet. Due to hatch on 4th of July. See how you could show your patriotic nature, to celebrate with a 4th of July baby. haha. Ohhhhh I am such a bad influence on you. You can have a few!

Yes that is my beloved Violet who yells at me when the girls lay their eggs. She is funny. We have been trying to teach her to ring a bell by pulling a string, she is getting close to figuring it out. Smart sweet girl, she is more like a dog than a chicken I think. My favorite one of all :love And she lays every day. Every day. And tries to believe she can lay again afterward haha funny girl. Big beautiful super light tan almost ivory colored eggs. They used to be more tan, but the last few months they have gotten really light. This was her very first egg. A double.....then none since. We are actually going to take her camping with us in a few weeks lol. She has clothes....and a leash. And she loves to take walks.....I better stop here before you guys think I am crazy ....uh......might be too late......

My DH and his violet when she was a baby....

i fully understand and i think its awesome you did not give up on your goose. i just wantedd to give my opinion. but yeah dr echols and dr falland are byy far better vets imo. dont think i am backing dr harris, i just can see things from different sides is all. :) i personally did not deal with any of them one on one but if i were to take any of my animals anywhere it would be to dr falland. but yeah i would be mad too if i were you. i know i still hold bad feelings to a few vets, like i am not a fan of creekside..... dont worry i fully get what you are saying. :) but do what you feel is best and if i can be of any help please let me know :)

Daloorashens, there's a total of five BLRW. I believe that there's at least two pullets in the group. However, I'm making whoever buys them take all 5. $15 for the bunch. (I don't want to try and rehome just the cockerels, so I'm making it a package deal). All five appear to be the black variety of blrw. Here's one of the obvious boys. He's way bigger than the others. You can see one of the pullets and then my SS in the background.

And one that I think is a pullet. The wattles are big, but nothing like the cockerel.

Lisa, I can't judge you for taking a chicken camping because I took 5 chicks camping once. My only caveat is that if she's laying, it may put her off.

So I candled my eggs after posting........these are doing so bad. I had 12 each BJG, EE, and BR. I now have 3 BJG, 5 EE, and 9 BR. The BR are doing great. They were the eggs in the most center of the box. The BJG were the ones that were damaged, so it makes sense they did not do so well. And the EE eggs----the two mustardy yellow ones are doing good still, and 3 pale pale blue/green ones. 17 eggs total so far.....for the 4th of July hatch. I am not sad anymore when eggs do not make it, just ticked that I bought shipped eggs again lol What makes me sad is when they make it to lockdown then don't hatch, so I hope if there are anymore quitters I will be able to tell before the weekend.
