Utah!

Ok, I downloaded AVG, it had expired. Let's see if this works. I have the word prayers in blue above..let's see if that highlights..and then the word essential oils. and for some reason, the word start...here goes...
Still there! Now what? Guess I'll have to go have it go through some things.

That's exactly what they are! Click on them, they take you to a site about that particular word..like essential oils in auntie's post. How do I get rid of that? spyware??

I thought those were specific to certain sites, but now I wonder if it's not something that was naughty and attached itself to your computer/browser/whatever (I'm sorry, head is all hazy tonight) Try cleaning out your browsing history. This is usually under the Tools option on IE. On Firefox, click the top tab that says 'Firefox', then find Options. Again, pick Options on that list, and it should bring up a window with tabs like Privacy. On the Privacy tab, there should be a thing you can click to clear out your recent history. I recommend cleaning out browsing, cookies, and search history. Hope that helps.

Thanks, I will try that Red, I just scanned my whole computer, and it said no threats were found.
Crazy.

I did what you suggested Red, that didn't work. Looked up in the help section..and there it was as one of the complaints. I added on adblocks..it's gone! :)

I really, truly do not mean this in any kind of condescending way, but yes, you have not idea the last year of my life has been. I have to just laugh when someone tries to tell me that I don't ever want to experience (Hades) The truth is, I've been through it and back a couple of times, already.

Got more info on the doggies today, sort of. The two that killed the turkey this morning were Huskies or something. Well, turns out that in the afternoon, a totally different dog decided to get into the yard and terrorize the chickens. I really wish I was making this up. It's unbelievable. The good news is, we didn't actually lose any birds this time, although my EE roo has lost his pride and dignity. His bum is now very bare with a sad little feather left where his tail was. He's okay, just humiliated. The dog got hauled to the pound.

I think you can burn some oil in one of those incense burners, though you may need to dilute it first. Sasha, want to correct me on this one?

I like lavender and mint in herbal tea when I have it, but that's from dried buds or leaves that I steep in the hot water.

I somehow missed Hattie's post...yes, Lemon, Lavender and Peppermint are excellent for allergies. You put a couple drops of each into a gel cap and swallow it down with some water. :) you could also diffuse it or apply it to the bottom of your feet. Essential oils should never be burned or be heated to over....it's 90-something, 96 maybe, degrees because heating the oils can cause the properties of the oils to become not as effective.
To keep it chicken related, you can use pure essential oils on your chickens/pets, too! :)

Pretty little chick, this is one of the ones Lisa hatched...Kiddos named her Snowball... go figure, none of the all white chicks we have is named that, lol... Cynthia, the white one behind it is one of the Leghorn EE's, looking like a roo... And the white one behind that is one of the Delawares...
Dalrooashens - Cute chicks! They look like they'd want a few more buddies - then they could PARTY!

Moriah, that EE is gorgeous. I love that tshirt quilt, especially the design you used for the quilting. I quilt. I actually entered two kaleidoscope quilts in my town's heritage days. They're beginner, novice quilts, but my kids love them. I'm working on a really pretty LeMoyne Star kaleidoscope quilt now. Here's the two quilts I entered:

Sphix - I love Kaleidoscopes! These are beautiful! I've done a Kaleidoscope from a large floral where each block looked like a wreath. This is from a Mary Engelbreit print with the signs on it. Its my own - not quilted yet... "a cobblers kids have no shoes".

Block from M.E. Kaliedescope

Another block from M.E. Kaliedescope

Most of the quilt layout. We might have to add quilts to the chicken shuttle. I'd be happy to quilt it for you. I did a Reproduction LeMoyne Star for my cousin. I think there are pics on my website: www.moriahqulits.com

Your 7 yr old is darling with Emily

Sundance - Sorry to hear you're in the hospital! I hope you mend quickly!

Red - Have you heard of the book, "The Terrible, Horrible, No-Good, Very Bad Day"? Some years are just like that. I feel awful for your roo, being pants'd like that. I still hold a grudge over all turkeys though. Last year was my first with poultry. I had assembled what I thought was a nice, mellow, dual-purpose flock, and was content to learn as I went. Three weeks into this my sweet smart alec DH comes home with a day old turkey poult, and another chick to raise him with. The turkey was so dumb I had to dropper-feed it water the first three days. The poor chicken chick was bored out of his mind, lacking social interaction. The poult provided none. So I found a few other breeds I thought I'd like, some Salmon Faverolles, and a Marans, and they were all raised together. The Faverolles turned into these gorgeous white and salmon birds with full beards and feathered feet. And the turkey was fun. He'd gobble at every noise, the door shut, the dog bark, and the neighbors, who love to hunt and work at home, would practice their turkey calling skills with him every time they walked from the house to the shop, many times a day. My 85 yr old neighbor, who was raised with turkeys, would bring a chair over and visit with him, recalling fond childhood memories. He matured and got very pretty, dark feathers, blue head, and the little beard/patch thing. He'd strut around fanning his tail feathers from side to side like an oriental lady. Then one day he got to eying the hens like they were cute. But the only ones he could catch were the little demure Faverolles. He suffocated one, and ripped the other's back open. I was ready for turkey freezer camp that instant! DH says he's never seen me so mad. "Pumpkin" got booted out of the henhouse and dispatched to camp a few days later. People ask if we're going to raise another one. DH tries to get their attention (SH, SH, Zip it!, don't go there!!). So I'm sorry for you, but not yet for your turkey.

Delarooshen - I keep studying these Leghorn EE's. One minute I can see only one boy. The next I see four. Then its only 3. Last time I looked it was back to one of six.

Cynthia - Thanks for the egg tutorial. Would love to have one of your silkies, but I will have to wait till I decide how many active pens I realistically want to maintain over the winter. I'm thinking about separating the more and less aggressive breeds. Or I might let the aggressive ones go, and keep the Amers and EEs in Fort Knox. Hmmmm

TJ - Welcome!!

Lisa - Did you take pics? We want to see this famous barn set-up.

Moriah, I did not get pics, that would have been a great idea! Next time :) OR BIrdguy should post a few......you really should, go ahead and brag about it, because you have earned the right! It is huge, and awesome.

Hattie, the guy we'd buy him from usually buys holsteins boy calves from the dairy. I'm not as interested in them; I'd want a meat cow. He picked up these short horns, and I'm tempted to get one. When you went in on it with your sister, did you pay halfsies, or did your sister pay less since it was on their land and they were taking care of it? I'm trying to figure out what's fair on logistics.

Red, I'm sorry ANOTHER dog got into your yard. This is just getting ludicrous now. I can't believe how many people around you don't keep their animals contained. I'm glad that only dignity was lost. I've never heard of burning essential oils. I know doterras are so pure that you can actually ingest just about all of them.

Cynthia, I agree with Red- run the scans (did they find anything?), then clear everything out. Run again. Restart the computer. I also like Spybot, Search and Destroy. It finds a lot of spyware/adware that AVG misses. AVG is more for viruses, and what you're describing sounds like spyware. I use Google Chrome, and I've really liked it- the ads that people complain about never are around for me.

Moriah, I love your kaleidoscope quilt, that is so cute!! I love that you offer metallic or glow in the dark thread. Does the glow in the dark last long term? So cool! The lady I've used to quilt mine is very patient with my novice mistakes and helping me when things aren't quite square, which I really appreciate. A generous full sized quilt has cost me around $70 to quilt, including bat. How does that compare to you, price wise? I'm glad to hear your turkey story. I've contemplated buying a couple turkey poults that i would keep separate from my hens, but hearing your story helped me realize that maybe it's better to wait for the turkeys that come free with purchase at the grocery store in November. I still have one in my freezer.

This is the LeMoyne Star I'm working on now. Well, sort of working on. I've been too busy to even touch it since May, but I digress.

We got a year old BLRW in mid-May from a reputable breeder. She still hasn't laid! It's been 2 months! And she is mean to my other ladies which makes me mad. My one EE seems to be at the bottom of the pecking order and usually hangs by herself and kind of keeps her tail down. She doesn't seem sick, her poop looks normal, she's been eating and drinking. Is she just "depressed" to be at the bottom? How much longer should I hold on to this BLRW in hopes that she will lay? Pretty soon the rest of them will be laying...
