Utah!

Thanks for checking the news for the goose rescue story. The reporter called me yesterday evening to tell me that because of the brush fires, it would not air last night, but she said the story would run in the next couple of days. If I find out any further information, I will post it.

Chiko--I just saw your post about your difficult news. I hope you will find comfort during all that.

Is there any other place nearby (a friend's or something?) where you could still 'chicken visit' from time to time?

I had to rehome all my chickens about three years ago. It was very, very sad, but I felt it was the right thing for that time. I was able to live a couple months after with someone else who had chickens, & then board a horse at a place that had lots of chickens. Those opportunities helped a good deal, though it wasn't the same as having regular interactions with individual birds of mine.
Gratefully, I was able last year to get back 3 of the chickens I owned before (& here's another THANKS!

to henthusiast
for letting me have Pioneer back!). Sadly, my two hens came back (from a different home) having deeply entrenched cases of CRD, which Pioneer caught, & I'm busy pretty constantly giving them various treatments.

Based on my experience, as much as you have opportunity, I would try to seek for homes where it seems the chickens will consistently have good care, irrespective of sales price or other pressures. Money will work out in the long run.

I respect all the good care & attention I know you've given to your chickens! You are a true chicken lover.
Oh no, so the Denegard didn't even help? :( I was hoping when I saw you on, that you were going to say they were well. I loved looking through your site before, will have to go back and check this new "stuff". :) I was wondering, how to send that picture you wanted of my BO with the half toe and crippled walk. I guess I can get pictures, and then p.m them here to you..I tried one way there, but I don't think it worked out.
Good to see you here.

Speckled, I hear you! This is a really nice bird, bred by a BYC member with great stock, I sure hope I can find someone to take him for breeding.

Cynthia, Yay for pips!!

I came home to find my BA aka "peanut M&M egger" laying a double. Finally a big egg from her haha! Compare to a store XL size egg....

Sorry about having to rehome your birds, hector!!

Love the calf pictures.. awesome that it has hearts on it...

Whittni, that is one ugly bird, I second naming her Ursula, lol!

And CONGRATS on all the new egg layers.. sorry Lisa you don't have the BLue, blue one yet, those wheatens from Bonnie haven't started laying yet??

Making me want to flick my Blue orp and Marans BSL, they have been red for so long... But I do have to remember that at the first part of May they were 2 months old, so they're really only 5 months old...

Well, one of my polish hatched. The other pip hadn't gotten any bigger, had that feeling..so in I went with the others that hadn't pipped. Gone! Man! So, I went ahead and opened the one more around it's nose. It's just hanging out until I see blood vessels shrink, then I will chip away slowly but surely. It looks dark, the first one is yellow with black down the back? And some black on the head. I will put these babies in with my black babies. Hope I get a girl out of these..two would be ok.

Holy Cow Lisa, that reminds me of one of my firsts. Love it..now wait till you see the next..wonder if it will be real small, or just a nice sized egg. I remember the second one being tiny. And hey! That is a pretty BLUE egg!!

Lisa, I do hope you can find a good home for that boy. Those eggs are huge!

That did look like a marans pulley egg.

Cynthia, congrats on the polish pips!

Ugh, one of my lavenders is injured- left leg. I'm wondering of that bcm roo tried to mate her. She's not laying yet, but he was showing pedophilia tendencies, which is why I moved him in the first place. She can put weight on it but doesn't want to. I moved her to the time out corner and hoping she'll make a quick recovery.

Please oh please oh please oh please let that landlord have a change of heart, please oh please oh please!! :fl

Cynthia, sorry about the one....hoping for a few more though! And pictures ! :love

Naw that big ole egg is greenish. Haha. That is the bird I have had for a while, really they are greenish......
Daloorashens, the Chickenstock birds have both laid. The crooked toe one started really blue, now more greenish...the second one started greenish. BUT I got one that was more bluish today and I think it is from the first one. She just cannot make up her mind.... funny how they fluctuate. Best be settling on blue little girl. :p Sure hope your little boy is doing better, soon! Poor little one, it is so sad when they do not understand why they feel so yucky.

And my Violet, my sweet sweet BR Violet......is going broody! Ack! Not a good time, with all the new layers trying to get in the favorite box. She is going to be miserable if she stays this way! Never been broody, so we will see what happens. Boy she is egg protecting really hard right now :/
