Utah!

Yay...all three. I think you will like the paint. They are pretty. Pink skin, why is that? I know you said that they said some had the pink skin, is that a NN coming out in them? What were they bred with..besides the Silkie in there somewhere. I wanted a paint Silkie really bad. Then, after having my two Silkies that I just thought for sure I would keep, I got like you, and decided I didn't need a broody hen all the time. I will be interested in seeing how my Favorelle does with that. Hope not as much or as soon as the Silkies did. I miss Cotton, she always talked to me the whole time I was out there. Pretty girl.
Wonder how she is doing with her broodieness...Gary?

Ooo, Lisa, I hope you get that white showgirl..with a nice big bowtie! Go babies!

I just returned from meeting with the doggy orthopedic surgeon, He put Jacque in a cast and changed his diet. He put him on a high protien diet to see if he will make stronger bones he is going to revaluate him in 4 weeks, with his bones the way they are now he can;t put a plate in there is nothing to screw it to. Hes too small to pin his leg, He says if he will make more bone on the protein diet His leg may heal on its own. Cyn. Congrats on you new puppy where did you get her? Be careful tonight everyone it is suppose to be the colderst so far, Way below freezing. I took the orthopedic surgeon a dozen eggs and he was fascinated by the shapes and colors. I have several laying blue eggs. Some are large some are pullett size. One is laying a white egg that is very long and thin, I have the huge dark sex link eggs and the huge barnvelder eggs as well as my wyandot s. It was fun telling him who laid what egg and why they were the different sizes. Some snow here but not too much. tonight its suppose to be too cold to snow. Take care everyone

Another person that got pink skinned from her was pretty ticked off, from what i read in the review. I am not sure what it is...I wrote to the seller to see what she says.

I just love them either way lol. All three are showgirls, no silkies, all three have white feathers. no black ones in the batch.
Not much vault from what I can see on any of them. She said it was a paint silkie rooster with three showgirl hens in black white and paint.

#1 is paint, with bowtie and some pink skin
#2 is all white, with bowtie and mostly black skin, a little pink on back of neck.
#3 is still working on it. I see white feathers, not sure about bowtie or skin color.
**Phone pictures, my daughter stole my camera again. Darn it!

These last two have #2 over there on the right. See it all curled up, how cute. it has more of the dark skin for sure, and looks to be solid white.

Oh your poor dog and what he has been through. I hope everything goes well from here on out! glad you made the trip safely!

Ok if you can suffer through one more post.
A pic of Number 2 on the right. I was wrong, this one is paint too :) Better skin coloring though it has black feet, and black face, just the naked pink on the neck (of course where you can see it lol)

Well, you were thinking that you wanted to try NN's. I like the 4th picture. That baby looks a lot like my white girl looked with the nice big white bow tie, that will get more fluffy with time. That is going to be a pretty bird. Hope it's a girl!

Sundance, you went to Orem today..how was the snow there? We have a lot, and it hasn't stopped all day..serious! It is still snowing. It isn't supposed to tomorrow! Hope they are right.

Lisa, has number three gotten any more shell off? You don't want to leave it in for too long..it will have problems with the leg..I say "the" because it's usually the one they turn with. Could have splayed, or it will just want to keep that leg behind itself. Then you get to tape. :) It was the first to pip, right? And the others have hatched, so my guess it, it has absorbed it's yolk by now. Work on it a bit a time, if ya want. :D

Cynthia, they all made it! yay! they seem to be doing really well. I did have to peel a little on the last one, and she was ok thank goodness. Now she is the loudest. All 3 SG, 2 paint, one solid white (as far as I can tell) all three bowties! Big bowtie on the last white one. Toes all looking good and legs knock on wood. They are sooo much cuter than these phone pics show, I am trying to hunt the camera down to take some better ones. Will try to get some by tomorrow. the 2nd one is really snow white with black, the other two are more yellowish, from the egg, I am thinking it will go away like others I have had do that?. I cannot choose which one to keep lol I am just glad they are all here. They are all sleeping in a pile, 2 have eaten. I do wish they had more of the black skin just for the contrast, but the little 5 pink toes on the one are pretty cute. And the speckled pink and black skin on the one is pretty unique, so I like it :p I have them in a little tub that is 10 x 13. And there is so much room still, I cannot believe how teeny they are. Thanks for all your help, everything worked so proof that you have great advice!

Yaay, all three! Yes, find that camera! They will be all fluffed up and furry cuteness tomorrow. You just may have to keep them all until you know the sex, so you get your girl. Hopefully, they are all girls.

I had a leghorn, and she was definitely the most flighty and least friendly of all chickens I've ever had. Having said that, she was an egg machine.

Happy Birthday Red!!

OMIGOSH Cynthia I need to come play with your puppy. She is absolutely adorable.

Lisa, so exciting on the hatch! I never, ever get early birds. It seems like my first pipper is often at the wrong end. I wonder why? I'm so glad that all three hatched! i really miss hatching too. :(

We haven't gotten much snow to speak of. I am worried about all the cold. The chickens are in a much bigger henhouse now, so I worry that it will be harder for their body heat to keep the area warm. On the other hand, I have more than twice as many chickens, so maybe it'll be ok. I did get the water heater out there, and I have a 120 bulb for my frizzle. It kind of shines down on her water, so hopefully that will keep it from freezing. I am thinking about releasing her to general chicken population, but I'm she could easily escape through the chain link part of the enclosure, and if she escapes, she may not know how to get back in and would freeze.

I just had a total "DUH!!" moment tonight. I have not gone out in the dark to the coop for a while (too cold!), I try to take care of the duties during the daytime. I have a timer/light out there, during the day it is ticking. No big deal. Well I looked on the web cam a few hours ago, the light bulb was not on out there....it was burned out. All my girls were sound asleep at 5 pm in the dark coop. Snoozing right along. This could have happened weeks ago...so DUH no wonder all my layers are quitting. Kinda funny, I feel like a dope for not checking that out before. I never thought about the bulb going out, only about it being switched on and the timer plugged in. Once they stop is it very hard for them to get going again? Anybody know? I had 21 laying and it has gone down to 7. I put a new bulb in faster than you can say Bob's your uncle. :D :D :D
