Cynthia I am SO glad he is being taken care of and they are pinpointing the problems. Goodness he went way too long, hope he feels much better in the coming days! You too, now you know he is in good hands, get rest and try not to worry so much![]()
I am done with the hatch...14 of 17 hatched, the other three just kind of sat there and sat there, me being impatient, went in slowly to find beaks, and the two wheaten eggs should have probably hatched last night darn it, I was wishing I would have helped sooner, they were ready, just did not get the pips externally. The other was an EE egg, and it had quit at least a few days ago.
So the tally 14--8 fbcm, 4 cuckoo mixes (surprise! the dad is not the blue wheaten roo ha ha it was the FBCM that the mom had just been put with, they all look just like the FBCM only a couple have white spots on their heads) and 1 wheaten and the one EE I posted earlier. The wheaten is just as white as snow, really nice.
I posted the 4 cuckoo/fbcm mixes on ksl, have 6 more in the bator due in two weeks...if anyone wants those chicksThen I am keeping the EE and wheaten for now, to see...keeping 2 of the FBCM and I have sold 2 so there are 4 of those left for sale also, if anybody dares fire up the brooder this early (where is your sense of adventure guys?)
Did you see the forecast!?? Snow again, lots, then COLDER than it was last week. Grrrr. I really need it to be February. Now.
Chickie pics to cheer everybody up in a little bit. Oh Cynthia, I found a home for Larry the Un NN this morning. He will be very happy! He was crowing gleefully this morning.
Dumb question. How do you tell the cuckoos from the fbcm? How can you tell who the father is?
