Utah!

MadChicken, I bought 7 BLRW eggs from Rebecca in Lehi. I got three cockerals and a hen. It seems like they were more splash than blue. My hen is definitely a splash. The roo I gave my neighbor was a blue. They're very pretty birds. There used to be a gal on here who had gorgeous BLRW. I hatched 7 of hers, and they were all blue or black. But, she disappeared. I miss her. :(

Cynthia, waiting for an update on Richard.

Cynthia hang in there...something has to improve here soon!

Blujems, I still have not put them all in a bowl haha, I have a few pics here of the cuckoo babies from yesterday :) I have had the flu all week so my ambition level has been pretty low. I will get a few on here.

Look at the little wheaten (white) in the background--she seems to be saying "Ma! I thought it was me you wanted pictures of!"

Lisa, you are sick too! I am feeling better. I am staying away from the hospital. The nurse said that would be the best, it is really bad there, filled with folks with the flu. Do you have the upper respiratory flu bug, or the tummy bug? Get better!

Richard was seen by the dr. He never did call me. He is sending a specialist in for his leg. He says that it looks like they may have to go in and scrape some of the infection out of it. I hope they get into that hip too. We'll see.

Lisa, that is a lot of chicks! My barred rock eggs didn't make it here today. Darn, that means three days. Coming from Iowa. It's been good before from that area for shipped eggs. I am getting 18. So, hopefully I will get a few babies.

I am loving the pictures everyone. I was suppose to go to orem today to get health certs for the two cats i'm shipping to China next week. Thats not going to happen. Hope the roads are better tomorrow. I found a really really good housekeeper. He has been coming everyday. My whole house is going to be so clean when hes done. I just candled my sizzle eggs 2 out of twelve are quitters. So far so good.

Sundancen, I'm glad you stayed home today, the roads are awful. Is this a new housekeeper you've hired, not the guy I met? I'm so jealous you have one. I need staff.

School was canceled for my kids today, and I made dh stay home from work (40 miles each way). He wasn't thrilled but he put up with me.

Lisa, you are making me sooooooo excited for my babies to hatch.

We did ok with no heat in coop with temps overnight of 5 to 7 , but they are forecasting minus temps. The girls have small amount of frost bite on their combs from the blowing snow two storms ago. With this being our first time rasing chickens I am a little worried about the minus temps. Any comments?
Thanks everyone. still getting 4-6 eggs a day.

Do you have enough ventilation? Only my rooster has gotten hit by the frost cause he is to stubborn to tuck his head under his wing. I try to open more vents if its calm wind no matter how cold. Try blocking the wind. My neighbor's coop is just plywood stood up and nailed together but the way it sits and were it sets it does not get any wind even with the 3' x 8' opening in one end. He has never got bit by the frost. I'm very jealous. We go out of our way to keep our chickens safe and warm and sometimes it just backfires.
