Utah!

OOOO! I want her! I want her! I've been wanting a swedish flower, but can't quite justify buying a whole set of eggs just to keep one. Huh, did I just say I couldn't justify that? Wierd. Seems like I can justify every other chicken purchase lately!
roll.png

Well I guess she's yours! :))

Oh my goodness I can't belive I missed out on the chance to grab her by a couple of minutes!

Oh well, no worries, I'll find another swedish flower outhere somewhere someday.
Hi, I'm back from my mourning, does anyone remember me? :frow
I lost all but one of my lovely birds last summer, and since then "Mrs. Sherlee Holmes" has become a house chicken living in the spare shower. What's worse than a terribly clever chicken? A terribly clever chicken kept in a shower. Hahaha.
(I need to find someplace to buy Sweet PDZ. :sick Clean up is pretty easy but the smell can get pretty bad at times.)

OMGOSH That is My ex-Shirlee isn't it! That is hysterical! yes she is incredibly clever---her sister LaVerne is my head hen now :) Cynthia12--that is the other one of that very first pair i got from you--you hatched from newlyweds :) Too funny. Glad you checked in here joybells, it is fun to see her!

How cute is that? Both the egg and the baby. I am loving both Lisa's and your Avatar. Is this the chick in the cup? Too cute. :))

Here is the best I could get..of a picture of one of Red's eggs developing. Blurry, but you can see the veins. This is from the leghorn mix, I do believe. It is the more green one. I really don't think that the blue one is fertile. So, two green/blues are fertile, and only one green one fertile. I think your roos like the leghorn girls. :) But the one olive egg that is fertile is really showing veining. I started with 7 and I have three that are looking good. That's good with young roos isn't it? Maybe only one is being the man! he he.

Attack of the quotes!

It was fun meeting, I guess I stand out kind of, My dog in my purse waiving his cast around for sympathy and me hanging out at the NN chicks having them bring them all out to make sure they weren't white and checking the bow ties for Cynthia so of course a very nice lady is going to approach me and say are you on backyard chickens? Are you Sundance? I recognize the dog and knew you were going to get a NN for cynthia. It could only happen at IFA

gig.gif
Oh my gosh, Sundance, I love you. I love how you put that.

I had a scare this morning! BOTH lamps in one of my brooder pens were OUT!!! I had babies piled into a corner totally cold. I mean seriously.......I have two lamps in the "1-2 week old little baby" pen so I have a backup. It's insane that both bulbs burned out at the same time. I ended up bringing one chick into the house where I put her in one of my incubators to warm up for a few hours. Poor thing looked almost dead. Good news though.....I got her warmed up just in time and she's now in my indoor brooder with the new hatchlings acting perfectly normal. Whew!!! That was close. I would have been horrified if they all died.

Oh, and about the feed stores getting chicks.....even when I have several big brooders full of them and two in the house I'm still tempted. LOL

That is weird about the lights. I wonder if you tripped a breaker or blew something? I don't know, I'm not an electrician. But it just sounds weird.

Hey everyone, I read this thread quite a bit but I haven't posted in here for a long time, So I feel like I know all of you even if very few of you know me!
I was wondering if any of you have a broody hen that you would be willing to sell? I have had great luck the past few years with putting day old chicks under a brood hen and letting her raise them. It works wonderfully (amazingly I haven't lost a chick yet this way) and I don't have to worry about chicks staying warm or getting bored in a brooder. However we sadly lost our best broody to a neighborhood dog recently and now I am faced with the question of how to raise this years chicks.
Any help that you could lend me in finding another stubbornly broody hen would be greatly appreciated!

Hey Larson! Sorry you lost a hen. Those dogs have been so nasty this past year

Unfortunately I don't have any broodies, I'm sorry. I do hope you can find one soon, though.

Joy, I so wish you and I lived closer! I would give you one of my girls so that yours has a buddy. I'm glad she is doing okay. Shower chicken........hehehe.........it makes me feel more comfortable with my garage chickens

i am a total plant nut and could talk your ear off about them, just ask red
lol.png
i got some more herbs such as lemon grass, lemon balm, lemon mint, garlic chives. got some amaranth that is mostly seen as a flower here but around the world the seeds are used as a grain to make things like flour and stuff like that. its high in protein and has lots of good stuff in it. i have read about people feeding it to chickens but i am going to do more research first. the plant gets 5 feet tall or so and the flowers are like red chains. then i got some caster beans. caster beans are poisonous so not good to eat for us or for pets but they are beautiful, they will get around 12 feet tall and their leafs will get 3 feet and the plant is stunning with its red color and tropical look. i saw some seeds for salad burnet but i already have a plant, its a herb that grows year round and it taste like cucumber. i am collecting lots of different mints like orange, apple, then the lemon along with spearmint. i am getting more into the natural healing stuff so that is one reason i got the lemon balm seeds, and i already have comfrey plants and a few other natural healing things. i will call it all my farm-acy

Farm-acy. Love it

I, too, need to go load up on the herbs this year. I want some kind of mint, lavender, some more feverfew, maybe some kind of lemon-y plant. I need to plant the seeds I have for echinacea and chamomile and then get some new seeds. Oh boy, maybe we will have to have an herb swap on here?

Wow........that's one of mine? How cool is that? I can see the baby, hee!

Hahaha, I'll bet I know which boy the daddy is, too. And it's certainly not my head cockerel. It'd be my gentle one, Sven - the one with the spiky comb that you like. He is the king of speed, and very good with the ladies. His brother tries and tries, but somehow, I'm really starting to think that Gunther is not siring many of the chicks right now, haha. How funny.

Although, I was kind of hoping that at least six of those eggs would be fertile and do well for you
hmm.png
Dang.

So there are more not-so-good news going on in my corner. My BF's "ex"-wife and her lawyer lied and somehow cheated him and his lawyer showing up for a court appearance, which is bad. Now he's either going to get taken to the cleaners in court, or this is going to drag way beyond March. I am so sick over it. There is just no way to end this and have a decent life. I don't think I'll be seeing him for a long time.

Oh by the way, if I ever get married in my lifetime, you guys are certainly welcome to come. Just throwing that out there.

And I need to make some doctor's appointments and find out what's going on with my body. This whole past week, I've been nauseous and getting woozy. Been overheating for at least two weeks now. Got pains inside my abdomen (and before ya tease me, NO, I am not preggers. You kinda have to do some things before that can happen, you know
wink.png
) Headaches all the time, but I think that part is because I have a couple of teeth that are revolting on me. Dang you, teeth. Who needs you, anyway?

So, le sigh. And le cry.

Thanks for listening to me whine so much.
