Utah!

Sunnybrook! That's where I got my EE chicks from. She gets shipments from the hatchery and that was perfect for me because I just wanted two chicks. My EE that I bought from IFA (aka "Araucana" :gig ), passed away in a terrible brooder accident and everyone was heartbroken. She was a lifesaver for me and really nice lady.

Too cute!!! I am having major chick withdrawals here. My eggs are on day three. So far the temp has ranged from 98.3 (when first started) up to 100.7 (also the first night). We have been able to keep the average temp at 99.5 and humidity is between 30 and 40. The incubator I have takes a lot of babysitting, but is working ok. Any suggestions for a good brand to buy? I have shipped eggs coming in a few weeks and I think I need a different bator...

I was having problems with mine doing that. I have put it in a different room where the temp. is more stable and have had better luck. So if the room it is in has big temp. fluctuations then it really effects the incubator.

That could be it, but unfortunately, it is the most stable room in the house. It is also my bedroom, which means the least amount of disturbance. The kitchen or the family room are the other options and the todler would be very bad for the eggs :gig

Anyone selling ducks this year? I doubt my family could complain too much about a chicken in the shower and a duck in the tub.

I could probably get away with that if I call it research material for my children's books.

I've thought about ducks several times, and my BF keeps saying no to the idea. He says ducks are messy. But after having turkeys, I'm not so sure that ducks would be all that bad. Maybe we will have to scope out what's available at Chickenstock? (By 'we', I mean I will encourage you towards buying what you don't need, hehe)

Donna, good luck with the eggs! Your boy is very perceptive!

I wonder what is up with the dark egg? Maybe someone is messing with ya lol Wouldn't that be funny to put a bunch of odd colored eggs in someones henhouse just to blow their mind? Idea....

Oh my word, that would be such a funny prank!

Now if only I had neighbors with chickens. I'd be giggling so hard about their reaction if I stuck a green egg in with their brown egg layers.

Now see, You are putting ideas in Lisa's head. I can just see her running over here with different colored eggs.

Blujems, cute babies! What a sweet thing for him to do. We are headed out there to IFA again in just a minute...to oogle and stare at babies. So that little black one is still limping? I sure hope it heals up ok!

Slvrphoenix, I just bought SG eggs last night, I have to wait a week or two for shipment so that it works with hatch dates for my bators. I will have little white SG and silkies (hopefully!) the last week in March. And the way it is looking, with all these eggs...I hope not too many leftover roosters, but if ya want any, ya know.....haha so I would be glad to make sure the monster gets her pick. They really are the sweetest pets, so quiet and sweet!

I came home from basketball and the sun is heating up the bouse, bator spiked up again. I am so glad I came home to check! Only a week left on the first batch in, so I hope they are ok  They have done it before and been fine, so crossing fingers.

LOL good luck, those EE are so cute with the fluffiest cheeks, one looks like sparkles when she was a baby. the other is a dark brown.

Jess said that we have 2 different kinds so she should be able to have 2 kinds too.
that one is still limping. putting pressure on it in morning but kept getting run over by the bigger one. so she got moved with the big kids and now it is with the 2 babies. Hopefully it will be healing now

My dad always said that too, but I didn't have any real problem with it. My duck was always in the field by the garden, so the porch, yard, and walkway never got messy. I didn't put the waterbowl inside the coop so the dirt floor didn't turn to mud. Then again I only had one duck so it wasn't a big deal.
I'm looking forwards to Chickenstock.

Lisa, you had me jump up and go check on mine! It's nice where I have the bators, a room facing north. It pretty much stays the same, unless I turn the heat up in the house itself.
Temps were the same. Whew.

I had the breeder that I bought my new Seramas from brought them to the cat show. OHHH wow. They are incredibly beautiful. 3 pullets are frizzle one buff. one blacj and white and one partridge. One smooth chocolate and a pure white rooster. I'll try to get pictures but may need to get them when I get home. I'm exhausted so need to rest tonight. Another day of showing the off to home. My house sitter called said I had more Seramas hatching. Can't wait to see all my new babies.
