Utah!

Desert Springs, I'm so sorry

That's horrible.

Darbygill, your coop looks wonderful so far! And I'm with Cynthia - I need one of those doormats.

Well, two of my turkeys went to freezer camp yesterday. Actually, first they got a super spa day in the sunshine with all the grass, bugs, and grain they could eat. I took them out to my BF's house and he has taken care of them for me. I'm thankful I have him to help. It's kind of weird not seeing those two out back in the morning, but I know I gave them the very best life I could, and that makes me feel good.

I set my Icelandic eggs yesterday. These are from back East. T minus three weeks to hatch, and just you watch, I'll hatch out all roosters

Hey, I'll take it!

Have a Happy Easter, everyone!

We can be hatch buddies.. I set Some Australorp eggs on Friday morning.

Frizzled roo that was 1/2 Americana and 1/2 Sizzle over EE, purebred Americanas and Auracanas   I have had some beautiful babies from that combo

I'll be very interested to see how they feather out over time. One of the genetics peeps on the EE braggers thread is thinking the two black ones might be E/E (pure dominant black). That would require two black parents. Is that a possible cross in that pen? She asked and now I am curious.

I have attempted to feather sex, but the feathers are really fuzzy. There might be two girls and a boy? Vice versa...or they can't be feather sexed. Not sure. I did a good job with the feed store chicks last year, after I learned the trick of it (wouldn't have Henry otherwise).

I am having so much fun with these little chicks. I call and they all come running out of the Eco glow. So cute!

Speaking of Henry, he is boxed tonight. We will be processing him tomorrow after work. He has gotten the bad habit of throwing the hens by the scruff of their neck. Ophelia is big enough that she will have nothing to do with him at this point, but he is not a nice rooster all around. If anyone has any good recipes for an eleven month rooster, please feel free to share.

Desert..so sorry. I think you are going to be feeling a whole lot better once you are away from all of that stress! It's hard for me to think of a man taking sides with his children. I've been through divorce. No fun for sure.

I have two black Americana hens and the rooster was black with a bit of partridge coloring around his neck. His mother was black and father a partridge

So, I just attempted to feather sex again, two are definitely growing feathers at a faster, uneven pace IiIiI. One is iiiiiii. The all black one. So, if it works with these ones, then two girls and a boy.

Easter wouldn't be Easter without an egg hunt right. For the last few days i have only been getting 6-8 eggs from my big girls. Not bad but not good for spring weather and 13 hens. Today i was out getting the wheat bucket from under the big coop and heard a chicken song. I looked under the coop and could see just the tail of one of the BO behind the bail of straw i use for the floor of their coop. This is what i found. 21 eggs total!

Love all the chicken pics and news of new chicks... very uplifting and cheering!!!

Huge thanks for all the support during this trying time.

So funny that I was the one who suggested we NOT buy a new house when we got married, instead of staying in his family home, to save money. I have been remodeling it to the extreme and it looks no way similar to the old 1980's look it formerly possessed. Because we have stayed in that house is the main reason the daughters think it's their home. True, the husband should have boundaries and 'grow some' to let his daughters know that he has his own life, as they do. Sadly, he feels that keeping them happy is the most important factor. As agreed to by neighbors, I'm only there to keep him company when his daughters aren't available.

So sad!!! He'll be a very lonely man when the daughters have no use for him, when he ages, as he has given everything to them rather than develop a retirement fund for himself. He's taught then that money is EVERYTHING!!! Again, so sad.

On a good note: My purebred Ameracauna Blue Splash roo and all 6 of his blue, blue/black and black wives have gone to a great home!!!

Later this week my young Buff Orpington roo and all his young wives, along with my 2 young Black Australorps roos and all their young wives go to their new homes here locally. They'll be egg layers for an enormous family who goes through 5 dozen eggs a week!!!

Barred Hollands (1 roo and 5 hens) and Hybrid Ameracaunas (2 roos and 2 Kid Friendly older hens) still available along with an odd couple Delaware hens and Gold Laced Wyandotte hens. Can't remember if I have my 15 guineas spoken for... have to look back thru my messages here and on my chicken group site on Facebook.

Thanks again everybody for the moral support!!! It really helps knowing someone out there cares (even if it isn't my own husband).

A picture of a few my Easter Chicks that I just hatched. I could only handle four. They
did pretty good. :)

 That is just great. It erased Both! Erg!

I was just saying, Cynthia and Red I will be a hatching buddy! I have 45 eggs in Thurs night at midnight.
Wheaten marans, Cuckoo Marans, FBCM, Blue Marans, Partridge Pendescencas, EE, OEE, BBS Amer, SBEL, and barnevelders.
Truly I am done other than showgirl eggs after this, I know this is time #2 saying it lol!

My DH made new roost bars in my coop today, room for 50 butts now, woo hoo! I really need to not keep that many though. Feed costs more than our groceries every month haha :) What a beautiful day, I wish it would last forever, perfect weather. Got lots of yard work done, and enjoyed the day with my girls.

Sundance, Alice is doing great, she is already out in the main coop/run and getting along really well. I went out to check on her and she is snuggled in the nest with the showdude, they are good friends :) IT was so good to see you and Ed again, thanks for the visit :)
