Utah!

Cynthia- I am so jealous! I love all your flowers. So I sent my DD to Cal Ranch today to get save a chick for our upcoming hatch. This is what she came home with

She says that she told a lady there that this baby has been there for a week and is not doing as we'll as she was the last time she (DD) saw her and it looks like pasty butt. The lady working there didn't seem to care. So my DD said "since it looks like she will be a loss to you anyway can I have her?" They said yes!! So, pasty butt is fixed but her vent is a little swollen. Prep H? She has pooped, eaten and is drinking water. She was kinda lethargic when she got here so after cleaning her up I gave her a drop of poly vi sol and sugar water. Boy did she perk up! Now we are just waiting for our eggs to hatch so she will have some friends.

Aww, she's a twin to your other one...well sort of. lol.. she is a little Japanese bantam. You did great taking care of her butt. :D I use Neosporin on their little bums when they are sore. Works great, and fast. I bet she makes it. And, I bet she is the same color as I have. I thought I was getting a pure black Japanese bantam, but, she is now the prettiest Birchen coloring. She has a grey head and chest. It also goes down the back of her neck. Very pretty. Took some time for that grey to start coming in. I will have to get a picture of her.
Good luck on your eggs...I have some NN's that are to hatch on Wed. We are a day apart on hatching. And oh, you will find that the babies that hatch for you will out grow your new little one real quick!

Aww! It's Red and Clay! I enjoyed all the pictures...but just wasn't expecting to see Clay in them. Awesome!
Cynthia, awaiting cute chickie pics! Love those little houdans

I am already sad mine are big. Glad the ones you have left made it safe and sound. There are some pics going up on the chickenstock thread, wanted to post mine here too.

I did manage to get just a few pics... man I wish I would have gotten more! Too busy gabbing. It was just too fun to meet everybody! Here is what I have, most were down there on the end I was sitting at, so Michelle you are a movie star today

Devious look on Red's face lol :

He tried to avoid the camera, but I caught him! Lol!

My quail eggs! I am so excited to see if they hatch!

Quail eggs! I tried the buttons, what are yours? I'll post a couple of photos of my buttons when I did that for fun. I thought I would keep them indoors, but they really do belong in a large place where they can fly around better. These are so teensy and cute though.

Remember this?

They didn't get very big. Still growing here, but they don't get much bigger than this.

Can't wait to see what you get to hatch! Did you set them today?

Lisa I wanted to ask you a question about the Houdans. Did yours get a real big crop after eating and drinking? These girls have huge crops! Piggys. :D

Denagard: I bought some online after one of my hens seemed a little wheezy. It cleared it right up. I need to do a preventative treatment, but I keep forgetting.

Desert, I'd be inclined to vaccinate home hatched chicks, but the vaccines come in huge batches, and I'm only hatching 6-7 chicks at a time, so it doesn't make sense, moneywise for me to do it.

Cynthia, love those babies, especially the first one. It looks like she's wearing glasses. Bleeding hearts are one of my favorite plants. I don't have anywhere one could grow in this yard. Maybe next house.

Lisa, good luck with your quail hatch.

RLH1 good for you on saving that chick. I hope she comes through ok.

I candled my kindergarten eggs, and 19/21 are good, even though I'm not using my little brinsea. They have about 10 or so days left on them. I also candled my legbar eggs that are 5 days along. All 7 are growing nice little spiders, but one looked really weird. It looked like the air cell was fixed on the side of the egg, right where the development was happening, instead of the bottom. Isn't that weird? I'm not sure if it'll make it. I'll have to keep a close eye on it.

Thank you Cynthia! We were just saying we need to find out what breed she is. She seems to be doing much better. Sleeping peacefully inherent little box under a heat lamp. She's right next to the brooder the other three are in. Hopefully she will feel less alone.
