Utah!

Hey All! It's been a while since I dropped in... Crazy busy summer! I've had quite the chicken experiences in the last month! I've rehomed 3 of my 6 roosters. Yay! One is just'a crowin' now, so I'm hoping he grows a little bit faster as to be processed.

In my original flock from last year that is at my parents house (3 hens), we had a "Mean Girl" who has picked the neck and butt feathers out of the other two... I finally decided it was time for solitary confinement. We brought her out to where we are currently living to have some alone time... She had been laying almost every day. Well... she went on strike! We didn't get an egg for 5 days! I know she is a little stressed, but she is doing much better now.

So.. it has been about a week. Am I good to keep her alone until the other hens' feathers come back?!

Does anyone have about 12 week pullets they are trying to get rid of?

Oh yeah... and the skunk story is crazy!!!!

She may do ok with another girl that is good at taking care of herself with the flock. Changed environment can help them change. You can try it, and if she's being a stink again, take the nice girl away. hmmm? Good luck!

So I'm thinking I have CRD here at my house. I've been treating all my chickens with denegard I've noticed the sneezing and runny nose has subsided quite a bit but today I noticed 1 of my hens has raspy breathing and is sitting there with her eyes closed and does not seem to want to eat or drink. I'm really not happy with all my chickens getting sick after I bought from sunnybrook farms. Never again will I make that mistake. Does the hens symptoms sound like CRD?

I'm so sorry you had such bad luck from there, my 4 I got from her are perfect, but I did get them at 3 days old in April.
Did you call up there and say anything? I totally would. I hope everyone starts getting much better.

I would contact them and see if they are having the same problems with their stock or have had other customers report a problem. It's important to use the correct treatment and if they know what it is, then that could be very helpful.

I have a few Cream Legbars around that age that I need to get rid of. Couple of BLRWs as well, though it is harder to tell their gender...
