Utah!

Ha ha ha!! I win! You got three!  Kylie is soooooo cute!

Birdman, sorry about all of the rain damage.  How many chickens do you have?

We are on really strict water restrictions now, so my lawn is dying. I'm cheating a little bit to water my pasture this week because it is so dry that the grass is dying, and my cows need it for grazing.

Cynthia, that splash silkie is so beautiful. I love it!
i only have 12 :) yeah i fear water restrictions. a huge chunk of the food my family eats comes from my garden, so if i were to loose that it would be a big blow. right now even the chickens and rabbits are mostly eating out of the garden. i am a big believer in rain barrels, imo everyone should think of getting them. just a short light rain storm can fill a 50gal one up in less than a minute. if i were you i would do what you can with grey water too such as water used in cooking can often be used to water plants :) or you can go as far as useing bath water on your pasture. i know its more work but if you had to maybe it would be a option. i do not blame you for cheating a bit, i would do it too. i think it would be smart if people would not water when it rains. a few neighbors had their sprinklers on during the storm. for me i am fine with my lawn dieing, i just do not want my food crops to die.

I will for sure. I just need to take some good pictures of them. My Dominique is looking adorable! Same with my 3 NN's, all 3 look considerably different.

You are lucky! I got 5 NN from McMurray this spring and they were all orange. Now I have three orange girls at POL and no blacks or whites, which I was really after. I got one buff at IFA to have something a little different, it was light yellow, and it turned out to be a boy. My dumb luck.

Speaking of which, sure enough it IS my oldest NN laying, I caught her today. Nice size tan eggs. She is laying pretty regularly too, thank goodness, the others are not at all. I did get more eggs today though, I think 13..better than the last couple days but still not great. But I fear all the thunder will make the next few days slow down again, they are all traumatized out there lol

Awesome hatch Cynthia! I cannot believe you are still hatching :p
Actually, ya I can haha :D

I would love a white NN with splash in the feathers. They are way cute. I will probably get rid of a NN and a buff orpington and probably all 3 leghorns. I think they may be California white leghorns because I see a lot of dark spots on their feathers. So we will see when the loose their down

so that rain we had today sure flooded my yard. and a bit of flooding in my home too but the damage was not too bad. i had hail that was 3/4. i am in the sw part of the salt lake valley. my run is very wet. oh and my silver pencil rock is very broody again. i spent over a hour out there trying to break her of it but finally gave up and may just let her sit as long as she is not being too much of a pain for me or the flock. seeing how big some of your flocks have gotten it sure makes me feel in control over my chicken habit. not saying i do not envy some of you :)

The rain today was crazy! But I must say i do.love it. So I'm finding that my run is getting.smelly with all this rain. That DE will it help with this? Also whats the down sides to it and where can I get it? IFA?

So, I successfully placed my newest babies under my good broody. She handled it well, made some cute little clicks when took the McDonalds cup off her head. She is a fierce momma, drew blood the last time I placed chicks with her. So one day while gathering extra eggs she stole out from under her I grabbed a cup and stuck it over her head prepared to fight with her to keep it on. Much to my surprise she didn't protest the cup. I moved her gathered the extras and put her vack without a hitch. it was a great discovery. But I digress. I was initally planning on putting them under the 1st time broody but was too worried she wouldnt really know what to do with them so I took the (possibly already damaged, due tomorrow) eggs that the pro was sitting on and oh so carefully sit them under the newbie mom. Hopefully both broodies will be contented this way :).

Oh ya and I did take all three of the Chicks Cynthia had left. They were just too cute and she is much too convincing lol.
The beautiful little Delaware is now named Cynthia Snowball. The georgous little blue OE is Olive Dove (my oldest for some reason thinks it looks like a dove? Odd I know). And the little BLRW is Just Amy. :)
