I know, she said she really wants them more so to watch, and hold as a stress reliever to begin with, and now they really are going to need it. I will feel really bad if they don't get their coop done, but she said yesterday that they are going to start him on a really aggressive treatment, and he's going to get really sick from it. So I don't know how much he's going to get done once he starts treatment. I know she is really sad about her babies. She does come over and visit them at least twice a day, she wants them to know her too. Well just have to see what happens. I might have to make a temp run on the side of the house, the only person I know that might complain is the neighbor behind me. The other one has chickens, so I don't think they will care all that much. But I do have to say now since they are older, I'm really going through the food, and they do get tons of free range. Oh well.

Could you and your neighbors get together and do a coop raising. In times like this people can get a lot done. If they havn't thought about help just go over and do it. Say that you knew they needed it. They will be greateful

Yes, I've already asked my neighbor if they want help, but her husband is a handy man, and builds stuff all the time. So he really is making a rather crafty chicken coop. She said all else fails, they might just build a quick one, but they are not going to think about it till the weekend. They have tons of appointments this week.

Off the topic, I have a 35 gallon IFA Rubbermaid Water Trough or Feeder that my husband thought would be a good brooder but it lasted like 10 days at best. Its brand new, only used with the wood chips for maybe 10 days at most. We paid $45.00 plus tax. I have it listed on KSL for $30.00. Just didn't know if anyone on here needed a new water trough or feeder. Not a very good chick brooder. hahaha

Joel got his shipment of Welsummers from Whitmore Farms today. Cute little buggers, but they only sell them in groups of 25, so now we are back to having a heap of chicks running about. I still have some BLRW chicks, an few weeks old, and 4 Cream Legbar boys of the same age. Sheesh, we get rid of a bunch, then get a bunch more. I don't understand how this is happening--I shut my incubator down weeks ago!

So now I am back to having a heap of chickens to get rid of and no time to get it done. I told Joel he could only have a total of 10 Welsummers, including the 3 mostly grown ones he already has. Okay, maybe I'll go to 12. But that's it, I swear! He's going to have about 8 girls and 8 boys left over that I have to rehome. Desert, you still want some of them? I have no idea when I am going to get up to Duchesne, but I am sure either I or my roommates will be going up within the next 2 weeks. Don't have a clue what I'm going to do with all the boys around here--especially those Cream Legbar boys!

And that doesn't even count all the adults that need to go. There are at leat 2 BLRW down here that are only occasionally laying that need to go as well as the 3 Cream Legbar girls that suddenly decided laying eggs was preferable to becoming chicken salad. See, threats DO work!

Silly, if you'd posted that trough about 3 weeks ago, I would've jumped on it. My cows were going through water so fast I was having to fill their water barrel 4-5x a day. But, we got desperate and bought an automatic filler thing for it that has been nice.

Corvidae, that's a lot of babies to find homes for!



I am showing houses in Springville. Again. If anyone needs a chicken train (preferably northbound FROM spanish fork), I can do it.

I have a NN almost 2 week old chick... that needs picked up---I think sillycmoy has it now it was from Brian. Not sure where she is at. Karen ? Where are you, is it on the way back from springville to ogden at all?

Sphinx let me know if you are able to and I could come visit. We could visit for a minute, unlike last time when you came over and my daughter was flipping out over being late.

Brian still has it Lisa. He just told me today that he is holding it for you. I know he will work with you on getting it to you. Just needs to find the right day to make a trip your way..I told him that you would probably be able to come down the canyon...just going on a conversation we had a while back, only guessing on this here...? I use the dish soap spray too...Just don't forget to wash before you eat.

It really works to keep the bugs off.

I just PMd both Brian and Lisa on the NN, I'm really glad he worked out a way to keep his girls.

Brian I can get her from American Fork and meet up with Wendy for the transport if needed, I know you work, and I don't do much during the day but wrestle kids. lol

Wendy if you come by Cedar Hills, you should come see Penguin and Sheriff. They are getting so big. I'm still a little worried about Penguin. I just worry that she hurts. She gets around pretty good, and she is starting to adventure out in the side yard more, but I'm always seeing her eating laying down, wither it be free range or out of the feeders, she's always sitting to eat. So it just makes me wonder about her. She is making it up to the nest boxes at night to sleep, which is really make me mad since I read not to let them do that, but I really don't think she can hold on to the roost that long. She has a really hard time with it. So I might just have to make one her bed, just for the fact I don't really think she can perch all that long. Poor girl.

Ok everyone... here's the low-down. I have two flocks. One in my original home in Smithfield, and one here with my wife in North Logan. The flock at my parents home consists of three hens. One hen (now known as "Your Royal Highness") has completely plucked the feathers out of the necks and butts of the other two. We have decided to get rid of her... If anyone wants a mean red sex-link... she is FREE!

My flock in N. Logan was hatched from bluejems eggs... I ended up with 6 roosters 2 hens. Now at 14 weeks old, we have 3 roos and the 2 hens left.

This weekend we are going to process "Your Royal Highness" and the other two roos. This would leave the Smithfield flock with 2 hens and the N. Logan with 2 hens and a roo.

So... I found an ad for Wyandotte chicks. I went and got 3... hoping and praying they are hens. I had no idea because I had never seen the breed before. There were about 6 bigger chicks to choose from. I am thinking they are about 3 months old... they all looked the same to me so it was hard to pick. I'll post pics soon to get some input. Like I've said. I've never had Wyandottes before so I didn't know what to look for. I also got a Barred Rock bantam from the neighbors. I put the 3 wyandotte crosses with the barred rock bantam in our extra pen. They seem to be doing good. They're all about the same size.

Now, I'm going to take two of the wyandottes to the Smithfield flock, and keep the last wyandotte and the bantam here with the roo and 2 hens...

Will this work? Ugh... This is too stressful... haha
