Utah!

I've posted this in the Idaho thread as well.....

Is anybody hatching chicks this spring and want a clean/drip free way to water your babies? I'm taking reservations for our new 38 ounce mini brooder bottle, (more sizes in the works) with or without the metal mounting bracket. Front or back mount options. This will mount on wood, plastic, or metal wire cages. Please visit my FB page for more information. First shipments will go out in January. Local pickup might be available before then. You don't have to have a FB account to see the folder. PM me either through BYC or FB if you would like to reserve bottle(s). No payment necessary until ready to ship/pickup.

This is my fav. little black girl. Snuggly.

$ 500.00 for these. They are going for a lot at Christmas, but I'm asking on the lower side since mine won't be ready in time for Christmas. Their eyes have really opened, will have to get more photos. And, they are barking! It's so cute! They hear a noise, and bark!

I have had the pleasure of seeing some of my chicken friends, Wendy aka Sohinx had me look at her chicken with the swollen head, Turns out that swelling is a tumor that has worked its way into the sinus. You can drain some blood out of it to make it smaller but not much else can be done. I also took my Seramas over to Red AKA whitney to baby sit the next few months while I;m in Phoenix. i cried all the way home. I know she will take much care of them than my house sitter. I will miss them, Another funny thing is Chucky our chucker has decided to lay. I think its the heat light in the coop has confused her. We thought she was a he but eggs don't lie. She lays a big egg for her size. I am leaving on Wed I hope, be gone until end of March. I;ll be in touch with everyone in case I find some cool chickens that aren't related to what we have, Take care everyone and happy holidays.

Hey all! Still new to the chicken thing. Had then since about July-ish.

I got a few from Lisa in September and they are all doing pretty well. I lost my Little Bird (The sicky Chicky) to an animal of sorts.... I was hoping she would die peacefully. But it as a bad deal. She was my first Chick lost and I cried. A Lot. Like Ugly Cried!

My other six are doing great though! We have 6x10 dog run with their coop inside of it. We live at the mouth of the Weber Canyon so we get a lot of wind. The run is tarped on Three sides. And inside he coop we have a lamp to keep them warm. However, they have decided to stay under the coop so we have hay around the bottom to keep the wind and cold out.
It has been really cold up here. (-17 with the wind during the last cold spell).... resorted to buying the heated waterer. $40 bucks! YEEEEKS!!!! But it saves me from hauling water out there 3 times a day. It would literally freeze after 2-3 hours.

We have found that we have one ROOSTER! Yeeeps! I don't know what I am supposed to do with him?!?!? We were supposed to be a HEN ONLY House, but this sucker caught me by surprise today with his loud voice! He sang for about 30 minutes straight!!!

I am looking to add some new chickens, but we have found we do much better with 6-8 weeks and up. If you know of anyone looking for homes.
And a Silkie Hen would make my dreams come true!!!! (Anyone?)

Just an update. I love reading all of your stories. Sorry for the losses some of you have faced with the cold. I fear the rest of the winter as it has just started. :-(

Best of luck and Best Wishes!!!!

Happy Christmas to all!

Just wanted to share a couple pictures of my spring layers. These are the ones i got as eggs from Sphinx. They are mixed breeds but they still look really neat. out of 12 eggs i ended up with 5 pullets. 9 hatched. 2 chicks disappered. 1 pullet died a couple months ago

and had to rehome the rooster. one of the pullets is smaller and all black without a beard.

This one is my favorite. Not sure what she is but she is neat looking with her little top notch.

And this is just some eye candy, just wish they laid a bigger egg for how dang big they are.

does anyone go hunting for mushrooms? I have been wanting to do this for a long time but am afraid of picking the wrong type and getting really sick or worse. I spend a lot of time in the outdoors and have seen big groups mushrooms.

I had to post these pictures from Erica...the rooster is the last one (white), they are from that batch of NN turkens with my SG rooster Vinnie. Both have the same parents, but so different! Thank you Erica for the update on how they look, I can't wait for mine to grow out :D
