Utah!

Karen, the hokey Pokey is so cute! I tend to think it is not that one....I have quite a few of them that are younger than yours and the boys all have gotten orange flecks on the shoulders and if they are not bearded like yours they have red wattles showing/starting...but it is definitely possible! I will have to get a pic of the one boy I still have here for you so you can see what I mean.

Regarding the mystery roo---look at the saddle feathers on the Red/orange NN, I can't see them in the pic--are there pointy feathers coming in at all? At the base of the tail at the end of her/his back? Those pointy feathers are usually the easiest way to tell for me. Of all the regular feathered birds I really don't see any others that look boyish...the Houdan is definitely a girl...silkies are so hard to tell, the darker one looks like it might be getting tiny streamers on its head but they are so tiny, it could just be damp feathers.

I'm pretty sure its not the Silkies, I had 4 from the same hatch, and 2 were for sure Roo's. They were double the size of the 2 I have here, and they had the streamers, and was crowing loud and clear at 8 weeks old. I didn't think it was the Houdan, with her hair cut. She had ice blocks all over the place, and I don't know how she was doing it, so I gave her a huge feather cut. But you know I think she likes it. Because she can SEE… It was so funny after her feather cut watching her look at everything. I think I might keep her trimmed up all the time. She is way more active now, and is actually explores in places she never has gone before.

I don't know who it is outside. Frustrating me like anything. And I want to get an incubator just to see what they would look like. I do have that tiny Bantam Cochin mix, or whatever it is from the beginning of March last year, and no eggs yet from that little thing. Maybe possible. Not sure on the little monster Japanese Bantam. I'm clueless on which one it could be. And its driving me nuts.

Oh my, Sheriff turned out sooooooo beautiful! I just adore her, and am so glad you got her. Penguin is a beautiful bird too. Does she still seem very handicapped? Laying eggs?

I love Sheriff, even though I haven't gotten a colored egg from either her or my 2 EEs going on 3 weeks now. Oh well. Penguin still hobbles around. I did get my first Maran egg yesterday, not sure who from. I have your 2 FBCM, and a CCM. The CCM is older then the 2 I got from you. So I'm pretty sure its her's. And my daughter had to eat it yesterday at like 3pm. So it was fertile too, a big fat bull eye for a first egg. So I'm going crazy not knowing who it is.

Here is the first maran egg. I did take a photo before it was eaten. Hoping for another one today.

Lisa here are a side and top photo of the NN, and here are some more photo's of the Silkies, I'm going to cry if its a Silkie, it better stay silent. And my BO was in the nest box when I went outside. I guess if you start asking who is the Roo that needs to find a new home, it makes them all start laying. Because a Maran laid yesterday. hahahaha

I'm still highly suspicious of that orange NN. There's something about the tail that looks non-girly to me, and the way it's regarding you in those pictures. The feathers on your MF cochin look girly to me, but I don't have much experience with Cochins, so I guess that one could be a possibility.

Your BO, Houdan, FBCM, Light Brahma, and light Silkie all look like definite girls to me

I can't really tell on the darker Silkie, but I'd hazard the guess that it's female, too.

Edit: Went back and looked at the pictures some more. I'm leaning toward girl on that Cochin. The SS and CCM look like girls, too. How old is that Japanese bantam? It looks girly to me, but I'm going to do some research on the breed. You've piqued my curiosity.

So are we sure they are really fertile. Here are today's eggs that we cooked up. They were all laid yesterday. I took them out in the sun for hopefully a better pictures. They are hard to take because of the glare.

I just love all these pictures. It may be the NN although my NN who is laying has a very bright red neck, Looking at the NN tail feathers they don't seem to be curling. Good luck finding out
