Utah!

She's either in Mexico or Arizona, I don't know which. I hope it's stateside.

I'm off to Fish Lake for a few days. I told my mom and brother that they could come here for advice and help if they have an emergency while I'm gone.
hope you are having fun. i assume you are ice fishing? those splake are the best tasting trout imo, and they are hard fighters too. hope you get a big laker :) its a great place. and extra fun for plant nuts as you can see the largest organism on earth :)

Isn't Pando the heaviest living organism in the world. I read they found a mushroom in Oregon that is larger then Pando. I know Pando is one of the oldest also at 80,000+ years. I think the mushroom is only around 2500 years but still growing bigger.
sorry i should of said single organism. the mushroom is actually a colony and its not known if they are connected. with pando its all the same tree, just with many stems :) its well accepted that pando is still king :)

I have good news that I will share now.

We had a daughter stop by a couple of weeks ago. With sad news. She had cancer. Now how can that turn into good news? She had stage 2 Melanoma. She had the mole removed, it tested as cancer, then she had an area pretty large removed to check the lymph nodes. If that came back that they had cancer in them, she would need chemo. The lymph nodes were clear! Now that's good news. She had come by to tell us about her cancer, but also, that the dr. had highly suggested that all family members be checked out. This is not just a mole that happens because of sun, but is also genetic. So, all of the kids have gone, or are going. One son had one taken off of his face. No news back on that. DH is going on the 13th to be checked..I've been watching a couple on his back. Our son is GA. has actually been watching a couple, so has an appt. on the 3rd. This is one of those cancers that can be halted if caught soon enough. Thank the Lord.
Check yourselves. You never know.
Our daughter has two more that the dr. wants to take off. She had taken her son in for one in the first place, but when the dr. started to show why he wanted to take it off, she says..hmmm, I have one like that..so the dr. took hers off. Her son's was ok, hers wasn't. Thank goodness she showed him.

I was diagnosed with skin cancer in two different areas this summer, scared the heck outta me! Had it removed, no spreading, have to go back ev 3 months for a bit to make sure they got it all. Thing is...I went in to get checked, I do it annually, and he said I was fine. Then I was scratching, itchy spot on my back, he says "let me see that", decided to remove the scratchy spot, and it was full blown cancer. Makes ya a little paranoid, because then you wonder what else they missed! Then I found the second one myself, and had it tested, sure enough! All my kids have been in now, getting checked out. It really is so important, so easily fixed if you find it early. I also had a tumor on my collarbone, had surgery last week it had really been worrying me. Labs came back benign. Whew! I am feeling grateful for lots this year. I might look like a pizza, but I am here to tell the story at least! LOL

I am really glad you are all getting in Cynthia, hope the rest are all ok! Now if I can get my DH in....he is stubborn!

So i moved My bantam RIR hen and her two 6 week old chicks out of the a-frame and into the big house last night. Their was a lot of chest puffing and bad mouthing going on until i got involved. They still know who is the top rooster once they get pined to the ground. My Dominique still went to bed grumbling but all seems ok tonight. The little hen and her 2 chicks have taken up roost in a nesting box.

Aww so cute. I cannot wait to have a broody momma taking care of babies! I love your pictures and stories about your broodies :D

Quail Eggs: If anybody wants hatching eggs please let me know. I have been getting quite a few, and we can't keep up with eating them, have been giving them away for eating to neighbors that buy chicken eggs. I am going to set a batch in a month or so, but until then, they are free to anyone wanting to hatch some! I just need a few days to collect them in advance. I have about 2 dozen plus on my counter today that I gathered from the 26th through today.

Roosters: Same old story, I still have the four turken mix roosters....if anybody is dying to have a rooster hehe

Wow Lisa..so glad every thing turned out! I'll bet you were scared sweetheart! You are right. It can be fine if caught early. Glad you told that dr. about it bothering you. I have a pretty bothersome one that I was going to have taken off last month, didn't get around to it. Think I will now!

Lisa, I got my rooster collar, did you? Wow, I'm thinking that she will only be making money right at first...as soon as I saw it, I told Scott..hmm, thinking a lot of folks will be making their own. As soon as Brandi saw it, says, I'm going to make me some of these! lol...she will too.

Gary, you the boss. :) Hope all goes well with the mama and babies. I can't believe that my cochin hasn't gone broody. She hasn't stopped laying eggs since she started! I thought for sure she would have gone broody by now..maybe it's the winter. As soon as spring .. springs..I'm thinking she will. She lays an egg a day, if not, she only misses one or two days a week.

Have you tried out your rooster collar? I'm dying to hear if it works. I would love to have a Roo outside to help protect the girls once all the naught magpies move back in during the summer months. They were horrible last year, that I didn't let alone out of the enclosed run until they were about 10 weeks old.
