Utah!

Oh Lisa, now you make me want to go get a Lavender Orp.  I've always wanted a Lavender.

Cynthia hatched some lavendar ameraucanas two springs ago, they were the CUTEST babies. I got two and they were called Potsie and Fonzie, Fonzie ended up at Birdguys. Sphinx had some too, she transported them back from Cynthia's to share :love
I saved the photo she posted of them, Cynthia I hope it is ok to share it! They were soooo cute!

OMG, does she ship eggs or she is close enough to drive to get some? I really think I want to set eggs for Easter. I just want to use that incubator again. Even though I really can't keep all that many. But I would love a lavender.

Quote: Yeah, I'm just thinking that she is ill now. I gave her a bath to get a better look at her vent. She is VERY lethargic. She has a white spot below her vent.

So I think she has gleet. I have some nystatin in powder form on hand so I put that on top of an antiseptic spray and I'm trying to get her to drink some ACV water...need to go get some yogurt. I can get a pic up later

Hello Utahns,

I haven't been on here for quite some time. I was really frustrated with my chickens because I had an egg eater. Although I thought I knew who was doing it, I didn't want to give her away because she was my favorite chicken. Well, after a few days something tragic happened and she is now gone. Even though I was said to see her go, I am happy because I am now getting 6 eggs a day from all 6 chickens. Even my Easter egger is laying beautiful green eggs. I am excited for all this beautiful spring weather we are having here in Utah because I am able to let my chickens out more and they are so happy to be out free ranging. I wish that I could train my German Shepard's that they are not toys and be able to let them in with each other but since they weren't raised with chickens I'm afraid that won't happen. They love running the fence line watching them free range in the front yard. I love it. Chickens are the best.

I am hoping to get about 6 more chicks this spring because my RIR are over two years old and I want to keep getting eggs.

Melisa, sorry to hear about your favorite girl. I'm glad things are looking up.

Tankgirl, good luck. I've never dealt with gleet, but I'm sure there are others on here who have and could give you advice.

Melisa, I'm sorry something happened to your favorite girl. I know you'd been toying with getting rid of her because of the egg eating. In a way, this is easier because it took it out of your hands.

I looooooved those lavender ameraucanas. I think I need to get more.

I find it hilarious that I have more land that Lisa and Red put together, but I have less chickens. I have 24. And I'm starting to eye a couple that are 2 or 3 years old....

Good luck, Tankgirl. I've never dealt with gleet.
