Utah!

Kimmy, I don't keep hens that aren't laying. :/
And, they have Marans in the IFA up there??

Red, Lock your door! Don't poke your head out again!

When I called around to the different locations the IFA in Riverton said they will be getting some Marans on Friday.

I feel bad letting to of these hens that aren't laying because they probably will... But they have been the slowest to start laying every time and they stop earlier than the others too.

The IFA here always gets Marans, just the cuckoo ones though. DId they say what kind of Marans?

I dreamed about chickens last night, oh my! I had a kiddie pool in my backyard, and it was just full of chicks, like 2 feet deep of just chicks, and my terrier was in there with them and I could not find him, I was digging through hundreds of chicks looking for him, it was crazy! (My terrier eats chickens and we have to keep him away from them). In my dream I was just hysterical, I knew he was in there and was going to kill my babies. The cheeping was deafening. I woke up very upset. Weird dream, huh!

Sundance, I have to admit that transporting plants all the way home DOES sound tough! Keeping them alive in their little pots also sounds tricky.

Red, when you have that much space, you are going to be out of control. I love the neighbor's llamas. I think that if I was looking for more species, I'd be tempted to get alpacas that I could sell wool from.

How do you guys even know when a hen isn't laying? I don't have any singularly unique color, so I have no clue if someone stops laying. My two tiny frizzles lay identical eggs. To be honest, they don't lay all that often. My polish and my hamburg lay white, and both are elderly AND exotic, so I don't get many of those. I think someone could not have laid in a year and I'd have no idea.

Cynthia, congrats on your new babies!

Lisa, I love those EE. Sooooo adorable. I bet they're both girls.

I'm kind of sad. I went out to check on my girls last night, and found my SBEL that I got from Sundance dead in the nest box. She has had a rough molt, or she's my rooster's favorite. Either way, she's looked kind of plucked lately. I've also noticed that there's been several weird egg incidents over the past few weeks. Like, I'll find egg white in the box. No shells, no yolk, just whites. I've suspected SOMEONE was laying internally, and I think she was the one.

Hey, I live in Syracuse and would like to add a few more girls to my flock. I am interested in Sussex, the whites. Does anyone have any available, I would prefer to raise them from chicks?

Oh Wendy, I'm so very sorry to hear about your chicken. :(

So Lisa, that is some dream... you should keep a dream journal. hahahaha!

So thanks to the temptation of Lisa and Cynthia, I did have to get some Dog Food, and I buy Taste of the Wild which is only sold at the expensive pet stores-not PetsMart, like corner pet stores, but Cal Ranch sells it. Which its $10 cheaper, so of course, this time I ended up with 3 new babies. I just had too, I've wanted a SLW since last year. So I got 2 of them, and 1 Americana. They had one in there that stood out, the rest was all chipmunks and this one is like a blueish color, it just didn't fit very well in there, so I just had to make them all look uniformed, right? Probably will only keep one SLW, but I will probably wait till fall to re-home her or not. HeHe... I need more land!

Haha Karen, I knew you would do it! That is funny.

Pawtraitart, I directed a guy to your website this morning for a rooster, he wants a wheaten or blue wheaten roo, I told him it was worth checking into!

Acemario and Sphinx, I gave your username to a guy on here looking for fertile eggs close to Logan he might pm you. I did not want to give phone numbers out. He may be on here soon, I was telling the tale of how much fun we have on this thread :D Hopefully he will join in!

That SBEL ad on KSL has gotten me a phone ringing off the hook. I marked them sold two days ago....the spring fever has definitely begun with chicks.

Ace, your eggs are in lockdown...cross fingers! of the three left, I am pretty sure 2 are going, one I cannot see in.

Yes, I caved, so I now have 2 tiny silver chipmunks in there. No more! No More! Specially since I really want to hatch some for Easter, just for fun.

So I was reading the thread of the day on Facebook for BYC and its about kitchen scraps. I've never once thought about giving my chickens cooked food or meat. I have them fresh fruits and Vegs that I actually buy just for them. But I didn't know I could give them all my leftover cooked foods. Do you guys do that? Thoughts.

Mine LOVE pizza. I know the salty meat you have to give in moderation...but it is ok for them. They go crazy when we give them pizza, my DH works pt at night as a driver, so they will send burned or leftover pizza home and my chickens are in heaven!
