Utah!

There's our Brad!   Haven't seen you in a while.  Hope all is good!   :frow

X2! I was just thinking, that we had not heard from our Birdman in some time. Good to see you there!

I went to visit Blujems and Slvrphoenix this weekend. They have no chickens currently, we need to fix that! Haha :D Miss seeing them on here too.

So Cynthia, you are DONE hatching, yes? I need to jump on that boat. My husband, spent the weekend, building another coop...to replace those dog house coops I was using for the silkies and Polish. He made a big coop that is split down the middle, so a mirror image on each side, for the little guys. Slvrphoenix and Blujems gave us the framework and plywood after they moved and we have just gotten motivated to get it done. Will need to get some pics up when it is painted, it turned out nice! So my silkies/SG have a nice new home to move into. I need to refrain from hatching more babies to fill it up! I bought 8 bags of feed and it lasted 19 days. Eeek. Time to sell some big girls....:old

Red, I am trying to figure out the picture you just posted, of your hand. Did you get bit? Or is there something in your hand that got cut out of the pic? Explain, I have looked at this for ten minutes lol.

Iluv, do be careful with weedspray and fertilizer! I have had girls eat grass that had been sprayed with weed b gone and get sick, the first year I had hens. I did not realize my Dh was out there spraying and let them free range the yard. I did not lose any, but it scared me I had a few laying all sprawled out under the coop foaming stuff out of their mouth for a day. They were fine the next day, so I was pretty sure that was it, but I am more careful now for sure when I let them out, and try not to use that stuff unless I can lock them up for awhile afterwards.

Almost done Lisa..I still have some of Diana's in a bator, 7 I think. They hatch this Fri. or Sat. Her last ones hatched a day early.

So, another coop for SGs and Silkies? Do you use NN's in there at all? Asking, because I just hatched the prettiest black NN. It's whole neck is covered. It looks like it has a hat and full coat on. So cute. Looking like a boy, or I would keep it.

If Lisa isn't interested, anyone else? Pretty little baby. Going to be handsome.

why are you useing chemical fertilizers? just use chicken manure, its a lot better and does not have the dangers or the environmental risks of chemical fertilizer. and i would not want weed killer anywhere near animals if you must use it, keep in mind that even the faintest breeze can carry the spray to the animals. and then you worry about the dead weeds being taken into the animals. people do not realize the dangers of this kind of stuff. so if i were you i would go with organic methods all you can. did you know boiling water is one of the best weed killers you will ever find? i am sorry you had this scare. hopefully all your girls will be fine

That makes sense. I've started spraying the weeds with the hot water in our hose after it's sat out all day. Works good so far :)

Lisa, I have several little bites/welts on my arm and wrist. Two on the left of the wrist, one small one on the back of my hand, and one right at the base of my thumb. They are a little more vivid off screen, but not too bad. I was wearing a thick jacket and she still got me through the sleeves.

Forgot to say, welcome RJ!

They all seem to be fine today thank goodness. I think I moved them all in time. My husband also sprays weed killer everywhere including really close to the chicken coop but always swears its not near them. I saw fertilizer beads all lining around the corral panels by my horse to :( Whoever was the guy who came out to do it, you'd think would be more careful..? It better not hurt my horse or I may let loose on someone. So far everyone looks ok.
I talked to my friend who does pest control/lawn work and he said that it shouldn't hurt them, however it's quantity that will.... so if they filled up on fertilizer, you can probably bet that it will affect them. So, hopefully that helps ease your nerves :)
