Utah!

Thank you for the kind comments on our humble pond. We have a creek that is less than a block to the south of me, so we get water things over from time to time. Every other year or so we get a frog, as you might have seen, this is an on year.

And the chickens love to hang out in the shade of the bushes near it. It is cool and quite peaceful, for both birds and people. You guys are swell to keep fish and such things, some years we have baby goldfish and end up with gobs and gobs of them. There is an open pond that does not freeze, that is where we rehome our fish for the winter.

Anyway your birds all look nice and it is fun to see everyone stuff. This Utah thread is a good one.

Your chickens will eat frogs so you might want to keep an eye on the one you have. We get lots of frogs and toads out here and the girls think they have hit a bonanza if they find one.

Oh… these are my first yard chickens, so I am still learning the ropes. I hope Gilbert has enough sense to keep away from them. My birds are about 13 weeks old so I am not sure they know how to do everything yet. I would hate to loose Gilbert, the frog.

Thanks for the heads up on that on,

RJ

Really nice photo RJ! Our neighbor's dog would always look into our run through a chainlink fence. I'm not sure if RC became somewhat accustomed to him or not. Glad to hear he stood up to your intruder. I do miss his crowing. I'm glad he has worked out well for you. He looks awesome!
Yes, we are just loving RC, we believe him to have what it takes, true grit. He is looking good, we are trying to hand feed him crickets, worms, and cut up pieces of leftover meat, we are hoping to bolster his protein level because he is a busy boy. I suppose he thinks he has won the Idaho Lottery, I mean all these young pullets, a big place to run in as he chooses during the day, and first pickings on everything from roosting spot to treats. My wife has a crush on him, I am suspecting… Anyway our pecking order has been reshuffled and peace restored to the homestead.

Thanks to one and all,

RJ

Ok, where is his eye?  I have looked and looked.  Ha..I even had to look to see which way his toes were facing to be able to tell front from back.  lol..eyes?

The eyes are not in the picture...Ruralpearls came to my house and saw him :D that picture is of his back, it took me a minute to figure out which end was which!

He does have big brown sweet eyes!

I will get you a pic of the eyes...I need to get a pic for Iluv posted too. I have to go to a meeting so not sure if I will get back while its still light enough, but it is on the to-do-list.

Hatch update, I have 6 blue chicks and one black. All OE and frizzled OE so far :clap

Are the blues for sale?

I am not keeping them all (famous last words). Definitely one is yours if you want! Looks like most are going to be blue, I can see some half out that look blue too. Will let you know what I have when its all done. I think I set some a day or two later, so I may have a couple days to see what all hatches. That is why I think I got the calendar mixed up. Duh!
