yeah fairly sure i got a roo. a barred rock. seems to have lighter barring, the feathering is different, seems bigger and it seems to be walking different. not fun. will wait a bit longer and hope i am wrong. they are a week old today

I have soo many chicks! What in the world? Two of Brains hatched. One is black with the spot on the head, and one is blue with the spot on it's head.
I still have some in the bator! Tonight is actually hatch night. So, I have a lot of chipmunk babies. Brandi brought me the most eggs that were very viable. Cute little things, and one is a black NN ..that came from a huge blue egg! Hope it's a girl.
I got three NN's from the ones she brought.
The two marans eggs ...yes!

I can't tell if I got two splashes, or if one is going to be all blue, a light blue..but pretty sure one is a splash. The one that was in the egg shell with the real high top has to be taped. Speaking of toes, one is sideways. I don't think it will matter much as it starts walking. I don't mind them being a boy this time, as I have also bought a couple of collars. Had one on that frizzle boy..took me a few days, but boy, did it work well once I got it on right. Funny sound.

I think I finally got my incubator to just the right temperature setting, so now it's just a matter of waiting and watching the humidity. I want baby Icees!

So I have a chick with splayed legs. But it seems like it has more of a huge belly, so its legs are bandaid together. So we will have to see how it is in the morning. Man this hatch has some issues.


Cynthia, are you keeping all your NNs? I really would like to get another NN this spring. Let me know if your going to be selling any off. and I can come swing by either on my way out of town or on my way home.

Cache valley friends! Help! A young elementary school teacher asked if she could have some eggs for hatching, so I started collecting eggs from my girls. I thought 1 dozen would be enough, but she just told me she needs 24 if possible! Can I refer her to any of you guys to help make up the rest!?! She needs them Monday the 7th

My girls are making more than I can eat so she's welcome to a bunch of mine. I can also drive them up Sunday or Monday if that helps.

How did you pick your username? Mine is red, because it's my favorite color, and then the Roman numerals for 3, because it's a number that seems to follow me around with things. I'll get third place in a contest, wait three weeks until tax returns come back, somehow end up as the third person in line, etc.

I'm willing... Dizzy is something that's followed me for decades because of some of the dumb things I've done and witch because my birthday is on Halloween.

Latest dumb thing... I have four little IFA babies now living in my bathtub. Do I need more chickens? No but the pull of the jersey Giants was huge and the little baby naked necks were just so darn cute! I'm blaming it on the Easter Bunny.
