What would you all recommend I put in a crusty eye? I think one of my younger pullets got pecked when I put them together. Went out yesterday morning and found her eye full of bubbles which turned into a little bit of crustiness during the day. I put colloidal silver in her eye yesterday and this morning as suggested by someone in a FB group. Anything else I can do to make sure it doesn't get infected? Man, putting chickens together is nerve wracking! Mine oldest aren't even that old but they are so brutal towards the younger ones. :/

Bubble in the eyes usually means, the big bad word...upper respiratory. Separate her from the flock..:/ If you want to keep the infected bird. There are a lot of meds on hand other than the interenet. I keep Denegard around for spring and fall treatment .. for prevention. Works great. Right now..someone can pipe in on what meds to give your girl.

Younger chickens always get picked on, as long as they aren't getting.. pecked on, really hard. They will be chased away, pushed at, a little peck on the back end may make some of them scream like they are being murdered, but watch, and make sure no feathers are coming out when pecked. If they have room enough to run away from the older gals, they usually do fine.
 
Thank you all for the well wishes. Still having some pain off and on in the chest and a weird sensation in my throat. But will get the new prescription and start it tonight. Hope it helps.

Lisa! Love that white SG! Very impressive that it's your 4th generation. You must be very happy. More photos to come as it grows! Right?

Ok so I have one or two hens that do actually rip out the little ones feathers when they are together and get hold of them (I am close and am mediating the offenders). My Buff's are within reason so I don't interfere there but the Reds are ornery. I started out with the chicks visible but protected by a fence between and the hens largely ignored them. When I try them together though the Reds are really awful to them. I have rigged up a safety zone that the hens can't get into but the chicks (9+ weeks old) can get into. Is the feather loss just a gauge of "too violent" is that why you mentioned that?

It was only yesterday morning that she had bubbles. It was a little teary off and on. Still possibly upper respitory?

Neosporin--the single ingredient one, not with the "caine" in it, works great on eye infections. Or polysporin, or bacitracin zinc itself. I have cleared a couple up with that on my vet's recommendations. They get all kinds of gunk from the shavings/dust/poop in their eyes and can get something similar to pink eye/conjunctivitis just like people. If the Neosporin does not work it can be eye worm...have seen that on other threads...can't remember the remedy but you could search if you think that is it.
