Utah!

Yes, but it was a wild goose chase. One was a "rescue" and I went to the address, which turned out to be a small house with no yard. There were small children there, but the woman I had communicated with had stepped out, even though I had told her when I would be there. The other one texted me as I was half way there and said he'd stepped out and to put him in a kennel outside (no water or shade) if he wasn't there. I got there, assessed the situation and decided not to leave him. I didn't get another text from the guy until 9 hours later, so I decided that was a bad idea, too. I get that people want them for food, but I didn't like leaving him outside all day in the sun with no shade or water. If anyone's going to eat him, it'll be me, he's organic and soy free (I was hoping for eggs I can tolerate) but he's still kind of small. I keep hoping that someone might want him, he's really sweet and pretty and it's killing me that I can't keep him myself. I wish he was mean, it would be easier!

Yeah Ginnyo, I feel for ya... I have two little cockerels that I can't keep... one is 2 mo old barnyard mix (really pretty coloring though, salmon faverolle x . He has feathery feet, and a bit of poofy cheeks) and the other, a 1 month old barnevelder. (if anyone here is interested in them, pm me, and I'll send you pics)

I had others, I took to Hillshrine farm in Provo... I didn't feel super comfortable doing it... but I didn't have much of a choice, as I can't keep a rooster, let alone 5.... :(

This sounds strange, but have you tried asking $5 for him? I know folks will probably still eat them, but I put several up for $5 and they have to come get them. It seems to bring more responsible folks. I also add a pic on KSL and make some breeding suggestions or at least remind folks about the breed. That is a very popular breed and color.

Hello all, I'm new here. I just got my first four chicks in March, and my buff orpington turned out to be a rooster. He's my most friendly chicken, but, of course, I can't keep him. If anyone out there wants this sweet 4 month old rooster, I'd love to hear from you! I've been trying to find him a home, this is my last resort before he goes into the cooking pot. Thanks!
there is a guy from paradise that might take him. He comes on here occasionally. His name is Matt, but I don't remember his BYC name.

@sideWing Thanks for the advice, maybe I'll give it a try. Although I think if I hold out another month, he'll be a decent size to butcher. He's been growing a lot the past week.

@bitsyhorse I hope you can find homes for yours as well. It's so sad that they're illegal, but mine is crowing, so I have to keep him inside in the morning so the neighbors don't hear and get upset. Hillshrine is the rescue I went to. I had narrowed down a time to go and drove almost an hour to get there - it was rush hour - and then waited about 15 minutes, but she didn't come back and I was feeling pretty deflated by the whole thing.

@acemario I would love it if I heard from Matt. Will keep my fingers crossed that someone sees him and would like to take him.

Thanks to everyone for your suggestions!

I think there is a farm animal retirement type place in Herriman too. I forgot the name of it, but I have driven by it. Might be a good place for my extra roos.

But if I can get hold of a plucker I will never let another rooster go.

Lol, is it Ching farm? I did contact her and she sounded very sweet, but she didn't have room for more roos. She's vegan and she warned me against people wanting to eat him. She thought it would be best if I just kept him in my house. Very sweet advice, but not at all practical!
