I also have a rooster free for the taking. He is the ultimate hybrid model! A little bit of FBCM, Cuckoo Maran, Barred Rock, and Wheaten Ameraucana!

Hello Ace…
Good to see those whom don't mind a fall bird or two… I think that other than December to mid Feb. anytime is the right time for chicks. I've had a couple of banties bright home a following of wee little ones. Young hens raising their chicks among the large fowl and the rest of the Banties is just too cute to mention, well almost. Those chicks that pop up on their moms backs just make me ga-ga or what ever it is that makes one sit down and have their eyes about pop out of the sockets. Love my free range wild-stock, as long as they make it into the coop(s) at night. But hen raised chicks is the best thing I know.
I might have to take hatching lessons from the 'experts' we have here in the Utah thread. I have been fighting it, this urge to hatch for quite sometime now, and I can feel that I am slipping every so slightly in that general direction.
Sidewing,
Was the Davis county fair this week past, or is it this week. I might like to see that one, is it at Farmington, near Lagoon or where is it located? I think the Box Elder fair is next weekend. That one is a good one to see, I have always thought.
Anyway hello to old and new, young and old, chicken lovers all.

Why hello, old friend. In response to your fall hatch question, while watching my flock devour our corn cobs, I decided to do another hatch of seven chicks, hoping to get two or three hens at least. Wens overbid not even a temptation after seeing my luck with Roos.
I will put in a few pure bred speckled Sussex, and barn yard mixed using my speckled Sussex rooster. I am going to retire my blue egg laying hen, and am needing some blue replacements. Does anyone have SBEL or Olive Egger fertile eggs?
Hello Ace…
I stop at some point in the fall and make myself wait until New Year's Day just for fun![]()

I'm thinking I'd really like to get a trio of some breed and start a project but I don't want to step on any toes, especially those of my fellow Cache Valley dwellers. Any ideas? I do have a beautiful Cream Legbar pullet that was shipped from a very active Cream Legbar Club member in TX. The mom was part of her show team and all of the breeder's chicks come out as very definite boys or girls. No guessing on these. What do you all think? How is the market for CL? Anything else that you wish was easier to get local?
4am! yikes! I have a handful of roosters but luckily they don't start crowing at all until 6:30. I wonder if yours are getting some sort of light from the neighborhood that is getting them started.
