How much is it at those places? (when they have it) I've always gotten my at IFA. $10.50 or so, for a compressed bag of it.

Its a few dollars more plus the bags are slightly smaller but some days I need it and don't have the time to drive to IFA

I cleaned out my coop---a really thorough cleaning after the winter and needed more bedding before I put the girls back in before it started snowing again. They have about an inch on the floor since I didn't get any so its a trip to IFA today.

Thanks for the welcome you guys! It's fun to see others from my area here AND posting. The kids are so excited to bring home the babies today - were still trying to figure out what to do coop wise. IFA has a really nice one that someone comes out to build for you, but the price is painful lol

Will share pictures hopefully later today!

Hey Watermelon! Since I'm not very handy, I bought my coop from a guy up in Heber that advertises on KSL.com. The only thing I would suggest is to know where in your yard you will be putting it because some of the models he has don't do well up against a fence---the egg door is in the back therefore making gathering eggs a bit difficult

but he has one that has it on the side which I would like to get my hands on. I thought the price was pretty reasonable but I got mine two years ago and they've gone up since. Its held up really well---all solid wood construction---and I just had to paint it. I've heard the Ware coops at IFA don't hold up but IDK about ones where they come out and build on site.

I've been on ksl just about everday for a week lol Trying to decide if I should go with one of them. There are a few selling right now that look nice. The one that we are looking at at IFA is from a company called All Cooped UP http://www.all-coopedup.com/ the one were looking at has electricity, a pull out floor for cleaning and it looks to be made out of some kind of plastic? It doesn't feel like wood to me. Not sure if that's a downfall or not, but I did like what I saw - just didn't like the price.

If you go to the website under Coop Gallery it's Litte Duce Coop. I'm IN LOVE with the Country Fun one but first fell in love with it here on BYC - the pictures & building of that coop is under the Small Coops section here on site. I was suprised to see it on the all cooped up site.

Oh! And a side note - while reading through the thread someone was asking about raising meat chickens, and how to humanely kill them. I don't know anything about this guy, but he has an add on ksl and in reading it I thought of the person asking. Sorry I'd have to dig through the thread to find it again, but hopefully your reading still.

This is a great bunch of folks.

Secondly, just wanted to make sure you know not to use cedar shavings in your brooders and coops - something in the oils is toxic, it gets in their lungs. Several threads here on BYC were started by people whose chicks died after putting down cedar shavings. I'm not sure if it is as dangerous for full-grown birds. A neighbor gave me a bale of cedar shavings, and I made my kids rake out the coop after they'd put them in there - didn't want to take any chances.

And congrats on getting new babies! What breeds are y'all getting?

@the-bird-man ~ How fun!!

@Kimbobim ~ I'd read that as well & have made a note to stay away from cedar. The breeds we will be getting are buff orpingtons (most excited about these right now b/c of how friendly they are), golden sex-links, easter eggers, americanas, and my son would like a silkie.

Were good at chicken math - 2 or 3 birds means like ohh double that ha ha
