Utah!

MsEmanual, have you been giving your chickens lights in the winter time? From what I've read, most chickens need 12 hours of light a day or they quit for the winter. If it were me, I would keep your chicken around til May. If she STILL hasn't laid, then I'd think harder about replacing her.

Oh, Lisa, you are simply going to die when you see these chicks in person. They are sooooo adorable. They're all silver and gold. My dh claims they are 10x cuter than any other chick we've ever had. I expected some level of teasing from him about getting new chicks when I have some teenagers and some due to hatch soon, but I'd told him I saw the picture and just HAD to have one or two. As soon as he saw them, he quit any attempts to tease.

Heres a recent shot of my random babies I got from Cynthia12. They are still in their little box Cynthia brought them in

I'm still trying to look for a nicer home for them...anyway, I have 2 New Hampshires, 2 Barnyard Mixes, 1 Speckled Sussex, 1 White Orpington, & 1 Mystery exotic chick.

My babies :

Thanks for the babies Cynthia! They are nice and toasty under their 100 watt bulb :p I think I know what the mystery exotic chick is....Do you think it could be Penedesenca or maybe a Fayoumi?

I don't know Hector. It sure has a cute face though. Glad you got those babies under a light. They are only a week old, the two older ones are two weeks old, so still need a light. What did you do with the barred one and older NH one? Is that new girl doing ok outside. She isn't picking on your ducks any more is she? lol..that was too cute how that male reacted to that!
And guess what? I got an egg on the way home. :)) Does she have a name? She just started wandering around the other chickens like nothing was wrong, and I didn't even see any real stink eye going on.
I really think it would be a good idea to find a home for that Australorp. I never knew they could be such stinkers!
It sure was good seeing you and your family again. Your mom is so sweet.

He takes in babies, decides which ones he may want to keep, then sells the others. I have more of each at home, except for the one we aren't sure of. lol.. A good kid trying to make some money. Pretty sure those are all pullets too. I know the four pures are. We traded, I got an egg layer, and I know she lays, I got an egg on the way home!

My emails quit coming too. I have reset my preferences and it still is not working. Something must be up with the site......Cynthia SO excited to get these chicks. Thanks so much!!! And as in my message to you earlier, i am going to post some picks of my black EE.s You guys look at this tail and tell me what you think...no pointed feathers yet, but the voices are changing....tails growing......I am SWEATING ha ha!
Ok look at this POSTURE on Shirley---suspicious for sure!! Remember she is the one who was in big girl's face at 6 weeks old...no fear.....Then the last one, LaVerne's white whiskers coming in. Too cute

Lisa, at this point, you would really be able to see saddle feathers, and as far as I can tell, I can't see saddle feathers at all..what do you all think. Hector is really good at telling the sex of a chick by this point, even sooner! What do you think Hector?
And that last one..too cute! You may have to change her name to frostbite. lol... Frsoty? Frostbitten. Frosts? lol.. Nah, keep her name.

Aww, they are all sleeping.

birdman, what's up? I don't get the emails anymore either. I get some for other posts. I even had to go unsubscribe on one I didn't want.
Did you see that I bought some boss, and my picky girls don't like it? Oh silly chickens..something different. I think they will after a while.
