Okay, folks, what would I look for besides a full blown generator to make sure my incubator stays running if the power goes out. I am not living in mortal terror of that, since there are so many pricey eggs in the 'bator! If the power went out, I would lose all the cream legbars and my precious BLRW's and that MUST not happen!

I don't want to go buy a dang generator just for that, but there must be some sort of option there? Knowing my luck, it would happen while I was at work...

you can get a power inverter for your car, or harbor freight has a small generator for $100 and if you look in the sundays newspaper in the coupons there is a ad for harbor freight with a 20% off coupon

You could get one of those adapters for your car----we have a deal that plugs into the cigarette lighter and has a plug on it to plug in electrical cords. You could haul that bator out to your car and keep it going for a while, maybe? Can your bator be moved? Or is it too much power and it would overload---my blowdryer blows ours out but a curling iron works, computer, dvd player, that kind of stuff. We use it when we go camping.

Would a surge protector with battery backup work? We use them for all the computers. I'm not sure how long the battery would last, but it might be an option.
