Utah!

The only upside so far is that the cream legbars and Zach's Breda and seperated completely and in the large brooder, so they've never come in contact with these chicks. I am going to be so furious if all these little babies die! That little Marans is in there with them, too, though, so I don't dare sell or give that one away until I can clear it of any disease. I just don't get how they can look so dang healthy and then just die. One or two I could ascribe to shipping or general weakness or something, but 7?!?!

corvidae, that's awful! Have you tried giving them some electrolytes in their water? I'm hoping that it's just some kind of stress that's picking them off. That's so discouraging.

birdman, your poor BSL! I've never even heard of a triple yoker. No wonder she was singing so loud, hahaha. The little BSL of my mom's is starting to get pretty. She has more feathers now, so she's not such a baldie, and I can see a little bit of brown coming in on her throat and shoulders. Her comb now has black tips, too, and there's no way she has frostbite.

I haven't been to a fair since I was a teen, but after getting into chickens, I really want to go to the next one and see the poultry show. Funny, I never would have thought I'd be so enamored with chickens. I always assumed they were loud, dumb, smelly, boring birds when I was younger. Then I got to have some of my own. And oh, how wonderful my babies are

Erm...................Just shamelessly throwing this out there..................if at some point in the future anyone is selling Delaware chicks, do let me know. I do miss my Dellie terribly and would very much love to get another and try again. She had the cutest personality, I loved her to pieces. They grow on you.

I know this is asked a lot but I thought hey why not ask one more time?

Chick Starter - My bag is empty and I need more food for my chicks. They are three weeks old as of today. Should I just get the All Flock or go for another bag of starter? I've never raised chicks just ducklings and ducklings you can switch off of starter super fast. So should I do another week or two on starter?

My EE roo to be leaving soon. Cynthia--this is one of those fat face EE's you hatched...the ones that are coffee colored, they turn out lots whiter than I would have thought. Cute

The puffy faces go away then start to come back....my other ones muffs are getting pretty fluffy again.

Oh I love how different the EE's come out. Who would have known that little guy would turn white? With black?? Very handsome, and will get more so!

I really can relate..happened to me in Feb..but they weren't the real expensive chicks, but still, it was not fun watching those babies die one after another. I truly hope you are past the worst..if you are giving them electrolytes, can I suggest something? Don't give them the full dose. I found that their little bodies were already in shock as it was, and when I gave then the electrolytes, they would actually get worse. They would just lay there and jerk and twitch until they died. So,now. I only give them just enough that the water looks barely, and I mean barely tinted yellow, the color of the electrolytes. I don't even measure..I just go by how there is just a tint to the water. Just a thought. Good luck, let us know how it is going!

I am wondering the same thing for when my bag runs out. By the time it does the youngest will be 4 weeks old.

they say on the bag at 8 weeks but i think you would be okay feeding it now, my young buff is about 5 weeks now? and eats about half all flock and half starter-grower by her choice. all flock means what it says, it feeds all the flock. chick starter and all this fancy feed has not been around forever so i do not believe you have to fallow all the rules. keep it simple :)
