Oh, Lisa. *sigh* I am pretty sure I have only 4 eggs for lockdown. I'll candle tomorrow night because the 5th I candled yesterday (or was it the day before?) looked like it had quit, but I left it in just to be sure. I don't want you to feel bad about these eggs! I mean it! I'm happy you were so willing to help me.

I'll email the breeder and tell her about all the infertile eggs, but I don't expect her to send me any more...although it would be nice!
As for when to start lockdown, shall we start on Tuesday at 10am? My morning is flexible if that doesn't work for you.
I probably shouldn't have started with shipped eggs for my first hatch, huh?

I think I have one frizzle roo, if not two. I may end up bringing them with us to chickenstock. The cochin bantam that isn't frizzled is the one chick I'm sure is a pullet. Go figure! But she's super cute and friendly so she will be sticking around. It's looking like my luck may be poopy this week!

thank you all it was hard loosing him but its for the best. all my parrots are rescues, i enjoy parrot rescue a lot and form a close bond with all my birds. elk its funny you had a meyers, i have one now lol. i also have a timneh african grey, a senegold and a miligold macaw. all but the macaw are from africa but were bred here in the states so cynthia if i were to take a guess on when our pencils are going to lay i say sometime in july and one reason i say that is because they are heritage they do not have it bred into them to lay sooner like a bird from a hatchery would.

Fun you are having with those girls! Hey you have not posted about your progress on your run....you better hustle ha ha they are getting big so fast! Love love love the color of your EE's feathers...very unique. She is a beautiful girl.
The frizzle thing is sure cute. I already told that Colorado guy he could have her/him. Now I was wishing I could keep it. I did not keep any from that hatch---this one is the sibling to your Stevie and Angel. So it is probably a good thing I sold it first or the chicken math would be going again. I am proud of myself, my chicken math is going backwards for once!! Oh ya you asked about that splash---BlueJems has it now---I could not fit it in with the ages I have here, mine are either way older or baby chicks....it would hurt the baby chicks when I tried that, and the big girls ran that poor thing ragged. So blujems is going to grow it out and see what gender. She has some closer to that size, and separate pens I think it will be much happier with her. And it was best friends with her little feminine rooster. It got a cut/toenail snag on its toe when it was dashing all over the run but it sounds like it is doing better.

I have had a hard time finding a place for it...The little ones (bantams) are picking on it and the bigger ones are soo much bigger...I brought it in yesterday and had it in a cage so she could eat...Took her out last night so she could cuddle with the other chicks. She was very unhappy at bed time being away from others. Might bring her in this morning so she can eat again. they won't let her near the feed for some reason. buggers.

I went out this AM and the little one was hiding behind the water again...I put out my hand and it ran up my arm and hid on my shoulder. Guess I need to find a little one for a friend? It is very unhappy alone but not quite ready to live in the coop with the rest. Any Advice? or Suggestions...Not quite sure what to do...

Bluejems could you put it separate with that new maran *roo* of yours? They got along really well when i had them together....you are having the same problem I had. Just the wrong age.

Sasha-so I will stop turning at 10AM tue morning. Cross fingers! I definitely would let that breeder know how many infertiles there were. over half...that is an awful lot. I sure hope we get the remaining ones to hatch. Definitely bring your boys to chickenstock. You never know!

I hope it's a she too And gives you pretty blue eggs! Maybe when I bring your girl back next weekend they would get along....although this new one will likely be quite a bit older. I am hoping my girls accept the two new ones, they will be bigger so I hope it won't stress everybody out. I finally have my girls laying regular again, I swear they try to punish me for adding newbies by not giving me eggs. Any news on your kids yet?

Saying my prayers and all my fingers and toes will be crossed! LOL I emailed the breeder last night, I'll let you know if I hear back from her.

Thanks Cynthia, yes I believe you are correct they are called "Straw Mites" harmless to chicks but just plain nasty! They give me the heebies and I fee like they are crawling all over me.. yulkie. I might switch to alfalfa and pine much better for the compost pile anyway. I surely appreciate your help.

Is it just me, or do you suspect this is a fighting rooster? No comb or wattles at all, and $60 for a rooster? Suspicious.
