Utah!

Yes, as long as it is positively a hen and Rooster.
With my Maran Rooster being a hen and the new hen being a rooster I am a little disappointed in my latest additions.

Ok we are in. 3 FBCM pullets and one FBCM breeder quality roo. She said they can be related up the line, so if you breed lots to import another line (whatever that means) lol I will make sure they look just like what they should for their gender while I am there at her place. And check their feet! Not too thrilled about the way that last deal went.....

Now when you start breeding these then I will buy a few more chicks from you, or eggs! I am so excited! Do you think that new Ameraucana is a roo for sure? Are you going to keep it? She said it looked like a girl compared to the others back at her place, but I wondered---it sure looked pink--but it is old enough that if it were recently turning pink that would make sense. If she would have had some more with her I would have switched for another one. After my feet issues on mine I do not know what to make of all that. If it turns boy for sure then I will give you a pullet from this hatch. You could breed them or just replace the other one...I am going to grow some out to be sure on gender so in July I could bring you a wheaten pullet with your other two FBCM then they would be in a group together. We have a plan :) I did not rooster you on purpose I promise lol!

If you bred a wheaten roo with your cuckoo marans would you get an olive egger?

Cynthia---I wanted to tape her feet yesterday but two things are stopping me....my DH was gone and I need somebody to hold her. And I have a question----do i just use the tape alone or do I need some sort of splint? I am not sure what I am doing. If you would post how you did yours that would be great! I am confused :)

I am almost positive it is a rooster, but not 100%, won't know for sure until I hear a crow. But it acts alot like one. Not sure what to do with him...He is really pretty...I am putting up 2 silver laced hens and one rooster, Then that will leave me 3 SLW hens and one rooster, 3 cuckoo marans, plus HenRee and Sparkles...Don't want the coop too crowded...But maybe a couple others?

Oh man! Well if you do not keep a roo in that breed you could try to ksl it, if you waited for the right buyer looking I am sure you could sell it. Especially where it is a non hatchery pure bred. Wish I dared to have roosters I would try that one.
If it is a roo I cannot even imagine how beautiful it will be when it gets all feathered in. It would be so cool if some of my eggs hatched girls in that color. I am hoping! I have two from my last hatch that are 2 weeks old, no idea what gender yet. They look like the regular Wheaten color (no blue) so far. Then these eggs will hatch around 5/26. Crossing fingers for some pretty girls. You should post a pic of the new one, so everybody can see why we are drooling lol

Lisa, why do you not dare to keep a roo?

I figure I have a splash BLRW, I'd like to have a darker blrw. So, I think I'll sell four or five of these guys, and then keep a 2-3, and hope one of them is a girl. Fred, the last to hatch, is very, very, very dark. There's one that's not quite as dark. It looks like a few also have single combs, which is kind of fun. I tried to do a group shot for you.

Sphinx---cute pics! I have had some single combs pop up on those too. For my own birds, I like the look of a single more than a rose---the rose combs look like warts to me lol but I know if people want to buy them and breed them they would want those...

I do not dare keep a rooster because our neighborhood is quite close knit----a few others down the street have had them and when we get together as neighbors I have heard people complain about it, I just do not want to be on the gossip list "I hate that %^$$# rooster at Lisa's house I cannot believe she keeps that thing" so I have not done it. Boy do I want to. If our neighbors on the one side of us ever moved (our favorite people in the world) I would dare do it. They said one time as I was asking if our hens were bugging them---oh no they are fine! At least you do not have a rooster!

City allows it, plus we have animal rights....plus other neighbors have them, you can hear the distant crows in the morning...and I do believe the neighbor dogs are noisier.....BUT I really want our neighbors to stay happy with us, because we are quite good friends. I really wanted to keep Fonzie, there was some serious tears going on the morning I boxed him up. His little girlfriend jumped on his kennel when I locked him in and had a tantrum. She still is sulking around out there. has not hardly eaten or moved around!

I can totally understand that, Lisa. Fonzie hadn't started crowing yet though, right? None of my boys have started crowing.

I have to admit, I do agree with you on the single combs- I do think they're better looking. The only advantage I can see on the rose combs is that they're less likely to get frostbitten.

No crowing yet. He was just so quiet overall I have to wonder if he would have been a better one to keep than others......here I was putting him in the car tearfully telling him he would have been the best roo there ever was. Watch him turn out to be super raunchy. I will feel better haha if so.....if Birdguy tells me he is super sweet and relatively quiet I will be kicking myself for not trying it. So birdguy if you are reading this, you better tell me he turns out to be really obnoxious.

I have a couple of really nice FBCM roosters available if anyone is interested... Wish I had known and I would have sent one home with Lisa... I hear she comes up here often so she'll be taking one home to you next trip!!

Fonzie has got to be the most ill tempered obnoxious LOUD rooster I have ever seen!!! Just kidding... he's been great and seems to be getting along great with everyone.. just thought I'd try and make you feel a little better...
