Utah!

Yay my hubby got are tractor finished. The chickens are allot happier now. Are town of Vernal just passed an ordinance so that people in town can have up to 6 chickens. Which means i could get 2 more. I currently have a buff orpington, rhode island red, and no idea on the other 2. I cant post picks at the moment my camera is out of town. So i was wondering what else would be good to get. We have hot summers and cold winters. Any suggestions would be great.

WoW! love your coop, it turned out great!! You can fit lots in there

Don't you dare give Sasha any ideas about how many chickens fit in that coop.

It only has to fit two. Rocco and Elvis.

After dragging his feet for a few weeks (he was working on other projects!) the DH is almost done with the coop! He didn't have a plan or anything, he just winged it and came up with plans (with some input from me) as he went.

We decided to separate the coop. Half for the big chickens, half for the banties. The wall separating the two sides is half chicken wire, (so the breeze can blow through) and half wood-so that they chickens don't have to look at each other if they don't want to. LOL Both wire and wood are doubled up.

Once the coop is done, we'll get the 6' fence up, and although we haven't had hawk problems, I bought bird netting for the top as well.

The bigger opening on the left of the pic will be the door for the chickens to use. the hole in the floor is so that I can push the shavings/straw/whatever out, and hose it out into a muck bucket. The linoleum goes up all the walls a couple inches. Oh, and the hole in the floor will have a cover to close it. ;)

tomorrow, we'll finish the doors, nesting boxes and roof. :) we plan to insulate and wall up the inside this fall.

Each side of the coop is 4x8'
Wow, lookin good.

Sounds like your hubby builds like mine does, gets a plan in his head, then goes to town. He has all the measuring tools to get things straight, and he can't use enough screws,,put in with a power tool..and then their the nail gun. And then there's the................he has it all! LOL... Looks like fun all right. I like the idea of the floor covering. And yours has glass windows!! Very nice.

T-Rex----My DH loved the little polish from Cindy that looks like yours....and decided he wanted it as his own. AND he named his Elvis also haha and he did not even know about yours or the comment on here about it looking like Elvis. Pretty Funny!

And way to go on that coop it looks terrific, you worked hard on that setup!

Hi Elk!!
Hey that little banty roo gets around with the big girls too? He is having a good time hehe...
If I go to chickenstock and hear anybody winning from Utah I will beat Birdguy to the punch and post as soon as I hear

Yes, I have two very determined banty roos. Both the EE and the silkie have produced fertile eggs (to the point of probably 75%!!). I have to collect twice a day as I don't want them starting to develop in any form since I sell most.

I totally missed out on Chickenstock and even buying raffle tickets. Too many posts to dig through but I hope a lot of you won!

Thanks Elk! That reminds me, I have not received my gift certificate yet. Sasha did you get yours?
Birdguy if you are on here, letting you know I have not seen mine yet......we were supposed to pick them up at your house but forgot. I think I forgot. Did I forget? Man my memory is getting bad :p

Sasha, that is coop looks great.
Sorry about the eggs.
I candled mine and one of each was not fertile. Some looked kind of weird, so we will see. But at the moment I have 10. I will check again in a few days.

Sasha: Are you making an account just so you can stalk me?

Me: Yup!!!!

Thanks Lisa, now everyone knows my name, so much for stalking anonymously. :)

And how come I can't put a signature line on my posts? Is it because I am too new?
