Utah!

Cynthia - They are from my own flock. I'm getting incubator practice. They have been good egg layers, all 2 eggs every 3 days, except the leghorns - they lay 5 or more out of 6 days. The splash should be the leghorn/Ameraucana cross. I hoping for pretty blue color eggs like my white EE, almost as good as the black Ameraucana. Don't pay for EE hatching eggs - I'll give them to you!

Oh yes, we talked about that, I will be keeping you in mind for this fall. For real! I would love to get some EE blue eggs going, so I can have some pullets next spring. Always fun. I am thinking I will do more of the close by eggs. It just cost me a bundle this year to try this or that through shipping. I just can't justify spending that kind of money any more. I may try Silkies again, they are fun to me.
I can get some pretty fun and pretty birds with the EE's, like the one Lisa just posted..that is very unusual. Love that bird, and it's still young. It will fill out and be gorgeous..you will have to post pictures again Lisa, of that one. So, EE eggs from you, not costing me a pretty penny, and will get some neat birds. Thanks!
Lisa, my incubators are done for this summer! Really. I am done until fall, probably late fall. Trying to get my chicken math right outdoors right now. Oh man, do you know how hard that is? lol..of course you do! Why do these little stinkers have to be so fun. I love chickens! I even decided to sell my buff showgirl. I had someone that wanted it really bad, I called her today and said ok. That was after I took my Welsummer outside, and started counting. I'm not good at math, when I don't want to be when it comes to chickens, but I am sure I don't need all of those chicks out there. I know the ones I am going to keep for the fall and winter. I sadly will part with the sexlink. She is so sweet. Keeping my Miss Piggy. Then I will have a few new pullets laying. I will be getting a lot of eggs soon.
Got my S. Sussex to do the squat. Not on her own, I caught her, she is always close to me too, like the NH. Little pigs, always want goodies. As bad as me!

Brad, we are on! Who's pencil is going to lay first. You just never know,...ya know?? LOL...we shall see!
Have to have some fun on here since I am not hatching anymore. So come on Lacy, yes, that's what I named her.
My son laughed when I named her such an original name! She is sooo lacy. :))

Thinking of Shinx right now. Hope your are doing well. I read your post on fb, not sure you posted here, but thinking since it's on fb...you may not mind if I said something here.
She lost a cousin a short while ago. I hope all is coming together for family Thinking of you sweetheart!

Sheesh... I go to camp for a few days and there's like 20 more pages on here, lol!!!

Camp was good, lots of band-aids, burn creme, ibuprofen and a couple twisted ankles after hike day... but I missed my DH and kiddos!! That's why I only do it for half of the week... kiddos are just too little, not to mention the chickens=)

Ok...let's see if I can get caught up...
Kid- Happy Anniversary!!
Birdman- Didn't know that about parrots... hope she is ok
Red- SO SORRY about your truck... I would have totalled it, for sure... I hope you get what you are needing and can get a good replacement...DH was wondering how that was all going.. FYI
Sun-You are seriously addicted to incubating, now LOL!!! That would be me, so I have to hold off on getting an incubator, for now=) Have fun on your cruise, though!!
Cynthia-- love the pics, pretty birds... Hoping you get eggs soon! I think there's a good chance both of those FBCM's are hens.... not sure on the EE's at all yet...
Whittni- cool, lavenders!! how many did you hatch out??
brocknash- WELCOME!!!!! and cool coop!!
Moriah- cool pics of those EE's, I'm really excited about the Leghorn EE's I got from Cynthia... really hoping to get a good blue egg, of course, time will tell...
Lisa- Your Delawares are bigger than the Wheatens?? Mine are bigger than the Delawares... one I'm pretty sure is a roo, though.... Will PM you again about the girls from Michelle=)

DH is working on the grow-out coop/run today... we'll finish it in the AM and then move the teenagers and get the big girls back in the original run/coop so I can get them out of the yard and let my kiddos run around barefoot again in the yard=) Ideally I would let them out to free range 2 or 3 times/week in the late afternoon/evening....

Thinking of you.

Welcome to the board newbies who have introduced themselves the past week.

I think a Delaware chickie is exactly what the doctor ordered for Red!

Lisa, you crack me up! I've been missing you, btw.

I hope the wildfires will be under control soon. We desperately need rain...but I know as soon as I start praying for rain, it'll be the biggest storm on record for the month of July in Utah, over our camping trip/family reunion.

Ack! What?! My own friends! It's almost as if you had a window into my soul

Arrrrrg! I'm feeling so torn on this Delaware chick. I completely loved the one I had before, but I am worried about becoming overrun with chickens here. I really did tell my boyfriend I would stop for a while, and I'm trying so hard to stick to it!

Of course, he did say, "Well, we could use another layer. Oh, it's a chick? I thought you meant a chicken."

Funny boy. I guess he doesn't bother to count the 10+ future layers I've got here

Urg, I honestly can't decide. Lisa, I'll text you tomorrow before 9 am and let you know, okay? I hope that works ok. If not, then feel free to do whatever works best for you and Joybells.

Sphinx - So, so sorry for your loss

Corvidae, are you still alive? How are things on your front? It seemed mighty rough last we heard from you. I'm hoping that things are improving for you, even if it's slowly.

man this smoke is killing me :( my eyes burn. people need to be more careful when dealing with fire or sparks etc and i tell you i am dreading when people start shooting off the fireworks

So yes my delawares are both bigger than the wheatens, how funny! Hey so tell my about this roo thing here, why do you think yours is a boy> is the coloring different? I assumed girls due to the order being sexed. I know an oops happens sometimes....but a few said mine looked different when I posted pics so now I am worried......so we have the same chicks, did you look at my picture I posted, does it look like yours? Weird........Red texted me she is going to pass this time (Hooray for chicken resisitance Red!!) Joybells I am pretty sure mine is a girl from her behaviour, nothing tells me this one is a boy, if you want to bail you better let me know :D We are leaving here at 945, but you have my number and can text me if you decide no. And I sure hope they feather out like they are supposed to, they are so beautiful when they are grown!

Birdguy if you are on here, what do you think? Have you had Delawares before? Are you sure they sent us the right birds from Cackle?

Also I talked to pawtraitart yesterday about these Wheaten colors. at this stage the boys have a more calico pattern, like mine with all the blue coming in, it is a blue splash, and she says those are boys. Wish I would have known that when I got Blujems chicken, we should have known from the color. She says girls do not look like that (DANG I REALLY WANT A GIRL WITH THAT COLORING!) So I must have one boy and the other three should be girls. So I am keeping one, then Blujems is taking another. If I do have an extra girl, which it looks like, she is up for grabs on here if anybody wants her. $5, started pullet, I will wait a bit to be sure it is a girl :D

Hey Utahns, I was checking out our local happenings and stumbled on Wasatch Community Garden's "Chicken Week" events, and it looked pretty cool to me. Has anybody done the tour de coops or attended the workshop? Is it as fun and educational as it sounds?

It loo`ks like fun to me. Heard it is wonderful. I was suppose to help at Sunnybrook today as they are part of the tour but can't as I'm housebound due to smoke
